Wallabies vs France 1

I went to bed at halftime how did France butcher that winning position.
i think they really did tire, weren't so good defensively out wide and the collective Wallabies bench did good for once (how often does that happen?)
Strange game in the end though. The practical, determined, dominant France that started was not the France that ended. -

@antipodean And it Latu, Arnold, Skelton, Kerevi, JOC etc were in the team we would've fucking steamrolled them.
Can only play what's there.
My point was the Wallabies required an act of self sabotage from a fifth choice halfback and a fullback from ProD2.
Just nice that another team decided to self-sabotage against us, rather than the flipside which happens far more frequently.
I think the real positives are the backrow combination looks willing and balanced. And ample evidence that Test rugby really is beyond Banks and Gordon.

@nta I know some Foxtel set ups you can't get Gem directly and you have to watch through app - it's certainly more difficult to watch Gem than 9 - even if only slightly.
Oh right - I'd forgotten about the Fox thing.
I've seen a few boomers complain about it on other sites because apparently tuning in Digital TV is difficult.

Aussie jersey colour looks out of the NFJ era. More orange than yellow.

Much easier to stumble on the game and watch it if it's on 9 than Gem.

Strange game in the end though. The practical, determined, dominant France that started was not the France that ended. It was France B (or C) which started the game. The substitutes were of level "France D" (France E or F as far the props are concerned with a ProD2 LHP and a THP who is not even the regular starter in his club).

Celebrating the mighty Wallabies win!
Given NZ is listed as a state in the Australian constitution (still), I think we can share some of that celebration!
The States shall mean such of the colonies of New South Wales, New Zealand, Queensland, Tasmania, Victoria, Western Australia, and South Australia, including the northern territory of South Australia, as for the time being are parts of the Commonwealth, and such colonies or territories as may be admitted into or established by the Commonwealth as States; and each of such parts of the Commonwealth shall be called a State.

West Island makes more sense.
Just watching a few highlights, the French midfield were very good defensively, but offered very little in attack. The French 10 was standing deeper than what Matt Giteau used to when he played 10 for the Caramilk Wallabies. Starting halfback for the French was very good. They could’ve done with him to close the match.

@act-crusader
Couilloud is ranked Nr.3 in France, behind Dupont and Serin.
Irribaren, who replaced him during the later stages, is not even the fourth best halfback in the country. Machenaud and Lucu (and Kockott and Parra, but these two are not in contention for Les Bleus) are rated higher than him. -

Speaking of the 6Ns, like last night the French had some last minute heroics and last minute heartbreak - the Wales match and the 80th minute try to win, Scotland scoring in the last minute to win, England snatching a win from them in the final couple of minutes.
