Highlanders 2022

@smudge All of us expressed our disappointment for PPP first, but his absence will have consequences for the Highlanders and obviously, we then look at who's available. Can't blame us Bay fans for naming some of the best NPC locks who seem to be without a contract still; not our fault that they happen to be from the Bay.
That's not distasteful; that's practical. Distasteful would be if we'd enjoy someone's injury, which is what no one on the Fern has expressed, as far as I know.

@smudge The first response was "Well bugger" followed by "Damn for PPP".
You sure see the world in black and white. Unsurprisingly for a Magpies supporter.
Kiwiwomble made the initial post, including his thoughts. That's not the response.
But seriously you can't see how tedious this is? HB supporters roaming the Super Rugby team threads, sweating on injuries to squad members so they can put in a pitch for their pet players who don the hoops. It's distasteful.
Our home team the Moana Pacific Magpies have gone a few days without naming any Bay players in their team, so we have to look elsewhere.

@kiwiwomble It's sad. He looks promising when he plays, but he's quite injury prone.
@Stockcar86 I second that; it's a pity that it may take an injury to another player to get Cridge or Parsons in a SR squad. At least one of them (probably Cridge because of Parsons' age) should be able to get a contract regardless.
I have also heard rumours about Highlanders' interest in Kereru-Symes, but I don't know whether there's any truth to it.
Also a rumour about interest from Queensland Reds in one of our players, but don't know who.
lol, 2 words. two words of sympathy. a quick shot at being injury prone
44 word whinge about nothing HB players not getting a gig
21 comment about a rumour about another HB player, but at least for the Highlanders
17 words about a rumour of other HB players to Australia
Never Change Magpies

To be fair, if you're going to use 44 words, I'd much rather them be about who might replace PPP then words of sympathy. PPP won't read the forum, so who would the sympathy even be for?
Grieving Highlanders supporters!

Fark I've never got the hard ons for PPP...
Unit who plays like he's 90kg.
Perfect chance for Caird, he'd fit into the Highlanders style well.
-
@taniwharugby and ive never got those that think he plays like a light weight, when ever i see him play he make easy yards often with people hanging off him, we see what we want to see
-
@kiwiwomble I get that with ABs where people have thier faves, but at Super level I have no reason to not like him (while I'm from The Blues region, I've never had much of affinity to them, in fact given when super started and Kronfeld was my fave player and my eldest lives down that way and played for Otago Maori last year, I generally support them)
I wanted him to be good but think he had 1 outstanding game this year, rest he hasn't really impressed, certainly not to to be talked about as an AB, but hey, that's why we talk shit on here isn't it...
-
@taniwharugby and thats just where we'll have to agree to disagree, i always think our scrum looks much more solid with him in it, he's a bloody solid line out option and i feel he does as much with ball in hand as other locks, i think people expect him to run like a 6 or something, and is a brick wall on defence
im not saying he is 100% finished and should 100% be an all black...but i understand the suggestion

@gt12 meh....being gutted for someone getting season ended injury goes without saying.
Rugby is littered with stories of the door closing for one player and opening for another, we don't need to all ponce around going oh that's so sad, poor him.
It is sad, but fuck he is far from the first and far from the last, so again, meh.

I couldn't resist, sorry.

Lol, here come the Northland supporters to add their grievances.
Love your input to keep the spite going! Didn't realise @Kiwiwomble had so many relatives in Hastings and/or Flaxmere and/or Waipawa that he had to leap so quickly to the defence of his McLean Park paymasters.

I just assumed he was keen to demonstrate loyalty, protect the relationship - lest the pipeline of mediocre players was cut off.

As a Highlanders fan I'd be really disappointed if we went to one of the mentioned Hawke's Bay players to replace Parkinson. It is probably a year earlier than the Highlanders had hoped, but I'd got for the big Dutchman Fabian Holland. At 118kg there is no issue for him size wise and the administration want to have him there for the longterm. As the saying goes, if you are good enough, you are old enough.
So thanks but no thanks to the two battler locks from Hawke's Bay, we already have their mentor. No need for another.
Would still be happy to take Kereru-Symes though.

I'd think it'd be wise to select one of those players in the squad regardless, though. It's all very well planning to give Holland a go (and I think he'll be part of the WTG, regardless). But if he doesn't fire (which would be understandable at his age) and you have a couple crunch games, Cridge/Parsons wouldn't be bad bench options to have.

finally finished the replay of last night game
Can we please sign Freedom, he's just a really deceptive runner, doesn't look like he running fast but fast enough and love how he can shrug off a tackle, even if he doesnt score (the next level is obviously harder than NPC) you always feel you'll at least get front foot ball
