I made the grave mistake of accepting a free ticket and going to watch that travesty.
Not enough the Hurricanes were awful, or had to deal with hometown TMO input, or that the stadium is a cold shithole. Worst is being surrounded by Brumbies fans who know nothing about rugby, complain endlessly at the top of their voices. To the point you have to ask why they go if their only objective is to force an aneurysm.
That crowd was probably the worst I've ever heard.
It would make a great thread.
Worst Rugby crowd you've ever been part of.
I'll make a start here and nominate Delaney Park in Stokes Valley.

Similar any game in the Peoples Republic of Tokaroa/Ngaruawahia/Huntly.

funnily enough in the league game the evening before when Jazz was getting sent for being a dumbass there wasn't a word said.

Just to get away from the Hutt bashing for a moment, I nominate Canberra Stadium (well in the 2000s at least). Way too many of those Brumbies 'Members' with their caps that live in the back window of the car but have zero knowledge of the game.
Zero idea of the laws of the game.....Boo the opposition when they come on... applaud a kick that goes into touch..go deathly quiet if the opposition score (even if off a really skillful play) etc etc. -
you'll struggle to play on a worse ground than Masters Ave in Hamilton in the dead of winter. A bog at one end, terrible change room "facilities" just average.
Actually i assume it's better now, but as a kid Greerton Marist was a bog as well outside of the show field.
Worst crowd is the SFS especially on a friday night. Private School investment banker piston wristed gibbons in sports coats, RM Williams, chequered shirts and a scarf whinging at the ref half interestedly as the Waratahs again fail to deliver.

@mariner4life You have just described Martin Luckie Park in Berhampore to a tee!!!! They probably top Masters Avenue as MLP comes with the added attractions a somewhat chilly southerly and cold showers if you have the late game.

Hillcrest Park? Only used for football now, and I've played there a few times myself in the last 10 years. The pitch is OK now.
The worst crowd I've seen was probably watching Waikato play in New Plymouth. It was a cold, wet, miserable Friday night there, and a long way to travel to see my team lose.

played Martin Luckie a couple of times too
Uni teams always get the best grounds if you aren't in the prems

yeah i think it is Hillcrest Park
I just knew it as Masters Ave, and at 21s level played there heaps for varsity.

Unsurprisingly Lancaster Park/Jade Stadium for me. Why would you throw a full beer at someone on crutches supporting the team that your team is touching up by about 50 points?
Any of the 2011 Caketin Super rugby matches where it wasn't enough that the Hammettuer was shitting all over the team but the weather was constantly dire after being nice during the day. I'm not kidding either, we'd drive up from Palmy (the relief), have some lunch, chill out, it would be nice and fine ... by kick off the rain is basically coming in horizontal. So not so much the crowd, just the expereince.

Not worse, but most disappointing. Millenium Stadium for the 2002 ABs v Wales test.
I was expecting the Cardiff Arms Park Welsh singing. It was a bit flat (Wales were very mediocre at the time), but the ground DJ started playing Bread of Heaven through the PA. I don't know as it is the only time I've been to Cardiff, have nothing to compare to ... but from mutterings - I think the crowd went on strike and refused to sing anything at all, they couldn't believe the DJ was trying to create the atmosphere for them.

A mate of mine went to a test in Pretoria (or was it Bloemfontein? ). He made a tactical decision not to take his jacket off to show his ABs jersey underneath because of the crowd around him
what a pussy , i went to Ellis park for one of the best games of rugby in my lifetime. Yes - prerochial and my jersey was worn with pride inside the stadium. Braii and beer everywhere outisde in every carpark or street.. hard to beat (will repost in other thread)

Oh if we're talking grounds, then it was never a pleasant trip to Ngati Toa Domain. Mary Crowther was always pretty shit too.
