dont know if i have this right but if you take last round of aotearoa and tt and combine
    table would look
    highlander 33
    blues 32
    crusader 32
    chiefs 31
    hurricanes 31

Crusaders and Blues would be 33; Highlanders 32; Chiefs 31; Hurricanes 28.

But things probably would've played out differently if this was the way the competition was structured. For instance the Chiefs might not have rested all their entire team against the Blues.

    @michaelmac
    cheers for correcting that.
the thing i found interesting was how close all teams were in points, little bit more spread now but still only 5 points

I wonder if all this draw/combining tables of two separate competitions would be discussed if the Crusaders hadn’t missed out. 😝

The Chiefs got a shit draw, but they knew what to do to be successful. They weren’t. Same with the other two teams who didn’t make the final.

I am not a Saders supporter, but we all know they are better than both the Blues and Highlanders.

    you sure about that?

Their results against Aussies suggests they are at best comparable

I am basing it off when they have actually played each other.
    Surely that's a better yardstick.
43-27 to the Saders at Eden Park.
29-6 to the Saders in Christchurch.

Damn certain Blue supporters are happier about having to face the Highlanders than the Saders.

Maybe you need to join @Kiap and the other Aussies on forums sucking on lemons. (Joke)

My view on it going back a while was the same before a ball was even kicked in TT. No lemons!

@nepia said in Super Rugby Trans Ta$man:

I liked the second, I liked seeing the Aussie players up against NZers.

I also want to see Aussie teams up against NZ teams, and said so today in this thread.

The priority, though, is always an Australian-controlled comp first. That's me.

Others here query the credibility/meaning of a full season combined comp. Why aren't they allowed to? These are good and proper questions.

I'm not saying no one is allowed to - I'm just going to yawn. 😉

But, lots of people are using an impromptu format due to pretty good reasons as a stick when that is totally unrealistic.

Why do you need a fully Oz controlled comp? Your most successful periods have been when you've been in non solely Oz controlled comps. We regularly see discussions about how dysfunctional Oz rugby can be with Sydney favouritism, Qld favouritism, NSW favouritism, Shute Shield favouritism, wrong teams kicked out/kept etc etc. Maybe it's best that your top tier below international has shared control?

Oh, you must be talking about the 5-game SPC!

Host Aucks and Welly followed by a quick trip to Chch and Fiji. In the meantime do our own thing.

I'm happy with that for 2022. You got a deal.

Nah, we were like the red head step child back then. But, most of our good players were playing for Otago in those days so technically yes.

IIRC we played Western Province and ACT in some early season games but they weren't ever part of an official competition.

Pretty much all of the squads have at least 3-4 players in or around their best 23 leaving overseas next season.

I think it quite likely we will be less competitive next year, with the Twiggy funded Force and Hooper lead Tahs possible exceptions.

Do you mean the tears by players about a comp that's meaningless?

    Still trying to convince yourselves.

Of course the players feel it's meaningful. They're paid well to care and compete and just want to win at all times. Fucken duh.

That doesn't mean it's actually meaningful though, or certainly not in relation to the SRA comp.

@shark Just let the Blues and HIghlanders fans have their moment. It's a competition with a trophy on the line, so of course it means something, you guys knew what you had to do to make the final, and failed to do it. Simple.

You always sulk like a baby when Canterbury/The Crusaders don't win something haha. Don't worry, I'm sure your mob will win plenty more titles in the future.

I do not. I do not. I do not. I do not. I do not.

    😉

Anyway, when was the last time I had the opportunity to sulk over a Crusaders competition loss? Not that I am. So there.

But seriously, I'm legitimately not at all bothered by not making this final. I'd made dinner plans two weeks ago even.

But it'd be nice if the Blues fans acknowledged it's just a little bit of a farce.

Fuck me, here we go again. According to the Fern the TT comp was meaningless, but it seems only up to the point where the Saders got eliminated. Then when Sader fans take part in a conversation about how the competition could have been better it gets labelled sour grapes - despite the fact it's been talked about relentlessly by supporters of every team for weeks.

The Fern is generally a good place, but seriously, this Crusader bullshit brings the place down. It's almost as though many of you are becoming the new Cantabs.

    Rant over.

@shark Yeah good point. Work will be fun tomorrow haha.

And yes, the comp is a silly concept (a farce as some say) but hey, all 10 teams competing in it were on the same playing field so it is what it is.

I guess you could compare it to a cup competition like the FA Cup (maybe not, I may be clutching at straws there haha).
