Cricket 2021: NZ in England and WTC Final

Ok. So changes.
Not so bad given Kane & BJ are out.
And don't mind Ajaz over Satnav, nor Cueball Jr over CDGH.
But lack of both Timmah and Kylo is questionable.
For the WTC one of Cueball or Ajaz misses out.

This may be a pretty long day at the office. Pitch doesn't look like it's offering much.
-
@no-quarter yeah, tough on the ball too. One for wags?
-
I'd say these selections were planned well in advance. Get some game time in the first test, then rest up and be raring to go in the final with a bit of (but not too much) cricket under the belt leading into it.
Tests are bloody arduous, they wouldn't want to risk the top players more than they need to. Ideally Boulty would have played the first test and rested for this but was unavailable.

Jeepers, Henry averaging 51.68 with the ball in Tests.
It's a little surprising that he hasn't done better in tests, he certainly has the ability to bowl wicket balls. At the start of his career I thought I'd go better in the longer form but it's been the exact opposite.
-
On the one hand, Henry has had a tough go because he's only ever really got random one off tests when someone has been injured and by bad luck more than normal have been in in favourable conditions.
On the other hand, he's never performed well enough in those random opportunities to stake a claim (compare him to Jamieson), and very few new players will be gifted an extended run in the team.

Unless one of them does something extraordinary, I think both will miss out.
I think it will be the ten that everyone agrees on + Satnav, unless they think there's nothing for a spinner.

@no-quarter i also think we misunderstand the necessity of match practice for the pros. I know a few bowling coaches and the guns literally bowl only 24 balls per practice very often. The point being they have the skills and workload isn't going to better that. Conditioning is key once you're good. Debateable if this is the best way but it is very prevalent at top top level. My mates want the novices bowling more but not so much the guns. It's a bit interesting. Some of the t20 guys (I know, but there's a principle) hardly bowl at training all campaign
Batters are the opposite in workload. -
Wags getting the ball to move around a bit.
-
Ok. Fuck this.
Legitimately to bed now.
(Ms Boo Jr home safe and sound.)
Do you hear me ether? I'm off to bed.
!

@donsteppa did you catch Doull talking about him. Worst stats of any NZ test bowler as of the 14 match mark, and the stats person provided the info that Henry hasn't played more than 2 games back to back during his 14 match career. Stop start doesn't even begin to cover that type of Int career!
