CdG will have his moments, but overall isn't going to trouble the top sides
fucking thank you
he's a park cricket plodder at this level. I am just astounded he is a constant because he can occasionally get the moon out, and bowl some wicket-to-wicket military mediums.

@no-quarter I think GdG has way more (potential) upside than Santner in these conditions - the commentators mentioned GdG's record in county cricket is pretty good, but they also noted that the pitch has less grass than most county pitches.
The Robinson stuff just shows how far down the slippery slope we are. I think there is absolute self awareness from those in charge that they aren't perfect. But the driver isn't what they think or how they have acted themselves, but how they have to be seen to be acting on that historic stuff. It sucks that no organisation (to my knowledge) has found an effective way to say 'people often say dumb shit online, esp when young, so in this case the fact it's come out in the media is punishment enough'... or something like that.

I’m certainly not saying CDGH is a world beater, but by crikey he has made THE absolute most of his modest ( compared to others ) talents. He’s mugged his way to some impressive numbers.....
But he’s almost as bits and pieces as Santner is at this level overall. The wheels are gonna fall off sooner rather than later.

Back to the cricket, that was an extremely disappointing collapse in the end. CdG and Santner are not test quality players with either bat or ball - CdG will have his moments, but overall isn't going to trouble the top sides.
Game is evenly balanced, but we really do need a couple of wickets early tonight to get into their soft underbelly. Without Boult our lineup is a lot weaker so it could end up being a long day in the field. The last thing we want is to come out for our second dig more than 100 behind.
Surely his apology should suffice. Did he not cry enough or what ?

Obviously Robinson's prepared apology didn't have "tears" in the script.
Well I sure hope the “investigation” is worth everyone’s time and money and they get to the bottom of this catastrophe....

The comms mentioned that Colin bowls just like the CC guys with the best stats. Middling slow medium trundlers

They fucked up dropping Mitchell for CDG, hes been away too long least the former All Blacks Coaches son has recent form. He seems capable of playing above himself too.

Totally agree. Someone has rose coloured memories of CDG. He simply wasn't that good (outside favourable conditions) and didn't exactly offset any weaknesses with his pure will (like Wags). Mitchell had a very good domestic test season

Mitchell comes across as a no thrills player who knows his capabilities and plays to them. He also seems to have a knack of making something happen. Hes aggressive too.

goddamn this is a horrible collapse to watch.
And then at 18/2 we were in it. FFS.
I thought we were past doing shit like this, but no. We let the Poms off the hook two times in the same day

Rain about this morning, chaps.

I commend you, old bean, on speaking as a loyal subject should when looking in on how the lads are doing against the auld enemy in mother England, eh what?
That sentiment is encouraged by having just consulted ESPN Cricinfo scorecard and discovering the bloody drongos there have surrendered and now list the batsmen as "batters"! Aaarrrggghhh!
Cheerio then, tally ho, pip pip and all that!

Persistent rain in North London. Start of play delayed. Puddles growing. Unlikely to be any play until well into this afternoon.
only 12 wickets down so far after 2 days. Losing a day would probably mean a draw at this stage
