What did we do to Holding?
Think NZ have bowled Average, England just poor. Said it about 10 times. After going on and on yday about dropped catches, seems he cannot give us credit.
Why the fucks he commentating anyway?
Yeah I don't understand why they canned Gower and Botham but kept Holding.

This in part is why I didn't think they were up for chasing at Lords basically everyone in that top order is under serious pressure aside from Burns and Root (who has the weight of the side on him).
A couple of early wickets and they have just carved through them.
Zaltsman was saying on TMS that England already have the second most ducks in the Top 6 in a calendar year in history and it's not even June.
Its June 13

This is how conditioned I still am to Black Caps failure
I open cricinfo, see a team get absolutely rolled, and instantly think it's us.
-
Very surprised when I heard the scorecard on the radio this morning.
I was reading a scathing article on cricinfo, and this comment made me laugh.
To be fair to England's selection, you can understand why they felt they needed an extra batter. They probably needed a dozen extra batters. And you can see why they didn't feel they needed a spinner on the fourth or fifth day. There's hardly going to be any play.

They’re a curious commentary team. They figure out some very good insights… and then proceede to flog them to death for the next half day.
While Taylor does have a couple of issues, after a while I started to wonder if we’d picked Chris Martin to bat at four.
-
Not quite what I expected, but absolutely fucking awesome nonetheless. Have seen the highlights, really good bowling and fantastic catching to back them up. Blundell made a low catch to his right look regulation, which is what you'd expect of a keeper at this level. Latham's catch was a beauty as well.
This test series has been the perfect lead up for us.
1st test:
- Southee tearing shit up
- Kylo finding his rhythm and giving nothing away
- Conway starting out with a double century
- Runs for Nicholls
2nd test:
- Boult dusting off the cobwebs and taking a few wickets
- Rosco battling his way back into a bit of form
- More runs for Conway
- Ajaz has 4 wickets! Why the hell have we been picking Santner in tests?!
- Wagner looking in good form and getting a few wickets as well
And to top it off we are looking at an away test series win to get the mood in the camp sky high.
India - bring it on

Fuck. Time to shine son of John….
I have a feeling you and your positive attitude are somehow to blame for this.
We’re leading with wickets in hand. Quit complaining.
Having now lost 6/69, I wonder if we have to ban you from posting during the Final...
Have a look at the big picture. We’re doing ok now

What's everyone leaning towards for the final, at this stage? I'd go with:
Latham
Conway
Williamson
Taylor
Nicholls
Watling
Jamieson
Southee
Wagner
Boult
PatelYes it's a fairly short batting order with a lot of responsibility placed on Jamieson given Watling has been ordinary of late but to be fair with that top five he shouldn't need to score more than a handy 30 or 40 and if things go really well, only once. And if there is a crisis then isn't that when we expect Watling to shine anyway? The lower order then really only needs to hold up the other end.
I think Patel has played his way in, may have been in anyway as the wicket is one of the more spin-friendly decks in England, but taking wickets has probably removed any doubt.
As soon as you decide to pick Patel - knowing we're always going to play Boult, Southee, Wagner and Jamieson in most conditions - we have batting order length issues. Moving forward this is likely to mean we simply need Jamieson to prove he can be an all round option as opposed to a bowler who can bat, or this issue will remain.

I do like that team but I really can’t see one of Santner, CDGH or Mitchell not being there.....and cricket being the funny game it is it puts a bit of pressure on Jamieson to see if he’s a genuine batting option at this level which seems harsh given how his bowling has gone so far !
What’s the minimum we expect from a 7 batsman ? I’d say late 20s as a career average if he’s worth his salt as a bowler too.
I’d like to see a spot for Young but there isn’t room, simple as that. He’s gonna have to wait for Taylor to retire to get a regular gig.

Found some old scribblings on notepads?

Aussies love me, because I sound so cool

@mn5 I think high 20s is fair, although we still have to remember that the primary job is to take wickets - if we're cleaning up the other team for not much, the runs don't matter as often.
One nagging question I have is whether Patel can spin out the Indians - they are a bit better against spin than the English.

Yeah I guess that’s the whole balancing act of any team. If Patel plays then it would be extremely rough to drop any of the four pace bowlers so it becomes horses for courses but possibly harsh to burden Jamieson with batting expectations too. Would another option ( down the line, not now ) be for them to shoehorn Young in there, have Blundell at seven and then the bowlers? A team of that equivalent makeup never did the Windies any harm in their glory days.
Patel has done well but let’s be honest, the bar had been set very fucken low.
