From what I've read from players themselves, they like it because they all want to win.
Can't disagree with that, but extra time is likely to solve that on it's own. I think golden point is the issue, it changes the way the game has to be played. Can see both sides, but next score wins isn't actually that great to watch. I assume that they wanted to guarantee results due to the reduced number of matches and that is why it was done. A draw isn't great for either team with the points allocation.
I didn't really have a dog in either of the fights last weekend but would have just preferred normal rugby for a bit longer to get a result.
If that didn't get one then it's a boundary countback.
I mostly agree.
Territory is so crucial that teams will just want to kick-off or exit, so I think some of the points made in that article are pretty fair. There is also the point that ref calls become more and more important, plus there is the captain's challenge (which should have been used by that Muppet Blackwell on the weekend) which will get used every time a point gets scored.
We did have one drop goal to win it, which was pretty cool, and I like it that our players will face those types of one mistake loses the game, one clutch play wins the game experiences.

Actually, this is a persuasive point. It goes to how do you win games when physically and mentally wrung out, and you need a penalty or DG to get over the opposition. Like T20 batting, if you practice it, you get better at it.
I don't like it, but this is a good outcome

ive always liked the idea of recognising the fact both teams couldn't be separated over 80mins
the NHL gives you a point if you lose in OT

Dont they get that anymore for losing by 7 or less?

Not what I mean, you could never have been in front and get that, something for actually being even after the fully standard length of a game, no difference between teams at 80mins

Don't the losing teams still getting a losing bonus point?

If the game ends in a draw both teams would get 2 pts. The fairest system is that the winning team in ET gets an extra 1 pt so the points allocation is 3-2 not 4-1 as at present.
Good thinking!

Careful Bovidae, having good ideas like that could get you a reputation as a thinker! I still don't like golden point , but if you have to have it well that is best idea I have heard.

Current positions and points.
Crusaders 22
Blues 14
Chiefs 12
Highlanders 10
Hurricanes 6Table under @Bovidae system
Crusaders 21
Blues 14
Chiefs 11
Highlanders 11
Hurricanes 7Canes now only a standard win away from getting off the bottom, and the gap between Blues and chasers widened by 1
EDITED as wins are first decider not PD meaning that Chiefs stay ahead of Landers

Chiefs would still be ahead of the Highlanders on wins.
In the event of two or more teams being equal on competition points for any position on either the Competition table, either during or at the end of the season, such position will be decided upon using the following steps until the tie is broken: a) Most wins from all matches; b) Highest aggregate points difference from all matches; c) Most tries from all matches; d) Highest aggregate difference of total tries for versus tries scored against from all matches; e) Coin toss

Cheers was going to look that up but couldn't be bothered and assumed it was the traditional PD.
At least it isn't most tries (as it would be if the ICC made the rules)Have edited OP

thats kind of what i was trying to get at @gt12, acknowledging that winning/loosing in ET is different to just getting beat over 80 mins
