Chiefs v Blues (27 March 2021)

Blues have a fantastic roster of talent at the moment, but are only 2 from 4 this year. Despite all the talent they have available, at the moment they're still a long way behind the Crusaders.
Most of the Blues forwards looked like they were suffering a hangover from last week.
Six All Blacks in the starting pack and more coming from the bench and the Chiefs' somewhat lightweight scrum was beating them up.

Maybe Tuipulotu should spend more time training and less time practicing non English speeches
You mean speeches in his other language?
You’ve been out of NZ too long. Quite common for other languages to be used now.
It has also just been rugby pasifika week in which it was encouraged.
All adds to our unique NZ culture IMO. We aren’t a little Britain anymoreJesus. It was a pisstake.
Ok. It whooped right over me. Was it a reference to someone else’s comment or something?
That'd be whooshed, boomer.
That’s be autocorrect on my Nokia

Well how can you be in a tipping comp with these games? Bloody good isn't it?
I thought the Blues pack would wear the Cheifs down, but bugger me the young tighties stood up. I reckoned they had 2 top tighties Ta'avoa and Vai'i and Vai'i wasn't there. Jacobson went well I thought, as did Trask at 10 and the usuals went well so........
And a reminder in this sport you never guaranteed a win. -

@bones I have been impressed with him for a while. Cane is looking like an old horse. He is beat up and worn out.
Don't agree with this. Just a few months ago he was easily our best AB. He was hardly great in last year's SR either, and is probably just pacing himself until the internationals.

These were the teams in the programme, although the Chiefs had two changes. Dyer started for Apikotoa, and Slade started for van den Hoven (Coxon and Florence in the reserves). Reihana went off after only 20 mins and Skipwith-Garland played at fullback. Harris came on at HT. I'd have him on the bench for Rd 2 of SRA.
The Chiefs led 7-5 at HT playing with the wind. Plumtree scored the opening try after a 40 m run from an intercept. Boshier the did the same from about halfway. Both showed plenty of pace.
The Chiefs reserve props dominated their opposites leading to the winning try from Boshier from a 5 m scrum. The Blues had the feed but collapsed under the pressure. I though Sullivan was ordinary at 1st 5 for the Blues.

Oh you know me, I'm just against multiculturalism. It should be banned, insha'Allah.
But yeah it's a pretty dumb comment that a poly heritage captain should only speak in English if he's not had a stellar game. Weird.

Some disappointing Performances from some Blues ABs in this game
Laulala,Hodgmen,Patty T, Akira
Clarke too lacked some spark today
Sotutu got through a large amount of work not always productive,Dalton P was massive
Reiko even though his outside vision is not there his pace in defence was very good today he shut a lot down from behind.
Plummer was good
Robinson and Ofa big impact of the benchJacobsen,Taukeiheo,McKenzie, Dodds,Ah Kuoi,Tupaea
We’re massive for the chiefs
Trask also I though went well -

Still worried about Chiefs substitutions.
I thought that moving Tupaea to the wing (again) was going to be a poor decision as he was the most dangerous Chiefs back on the field. Tiatia looked at home on the wing but that wasn't the team (in those positions) you want on the field to end a game.
Wonder if he is behind the scrum improvement with pressure on Tolai or was it the locks behind?
Taukei'aho is a good scrummager. I've got to applaud the effort of both Ross and Ta'avao as I expected the Chiefs scrum to struggle. You wouldn't have known it was the Blues scrum that had 4 AB props in it.
