An idea could have been to allow the players to go home, spend a few days to freshen up, and to return to Auckland.

There would be a designated route, ending at the Aotea Square.

Public transport, with extra buses.

Then families could all enjoy the occassion.

mate you're not wrong.. the boys are over the road having breakkie and they look like.. well.... like they've been on the pi$$ for 3 days solid with fark all sleep.

weather is clearing though. has stopped pi$$ing down.

just explaining to the welshman and saffa I sit next to that it's thanks to the Aura.. and that's also that strange feeling they can feel being so close to greatness.. :man_in_love:
-
Just watching the RWC final replay on the couch with a beer. Good times.

Man the commentators (especially Dayglo) are shite.

The first half we were immense and left loads of points out there. They were lucky not to be down by 30 at the break. -

Righto.

As I said, I don't think we got all the decisions but just felt we were on the right side of the ref (eg our - kickable - pen, their non - kickable - pen) on that particular day. It wouldn't have changed the result, mind as I think we were by far the better team. But I'd still be aggrieved if I was an Aussie. It doesn't seem they are though so, again, good for them; I believe it's the right spirit in which to take a (pretty fucking gut wrenching) loss
-

Not a fan of Dallaglio as a commentator but thought Nick Mullins was pretty good. I loved his comms after the drop goal. Classic bit of commentary, that.
-

Kind of struggling to see what Aussies can be pissed about, they lost by 17 points which is a country mile in test rugby, to the clearly better team. If they were pissed about Reffing decisions they should count themselves pretty lucky to be in the final after that quarter-final match!

There is no way the ref lost this game to Australia. Owens was consistent, to suggest NZ had the rub of the green is ludicrous and sour grapes, pure and simple.

Fair enough, by all means, talk up your chances prior to the game but should it all turn to custard, the only way out is to cop it on the chin and move on.

Fair enough, if the result was determined by one call that made the winning and loosing of the game the desiding factor, but it didn't.

Good on the Wallabies for taking their opportunities, when the game looked all but dead and buried for them. But take a close look at each individual in both sides, man on man and I hasten to say the ABs had the measure of each of their opposites.

Nothing to do with Owens.

The Wallabies only have themselves to blame. Falou, Kepu, just to name two, were a deadloss. -

nah probably not i've not really had the energy to be far. pretty sure this is my first 3 day hangover I still feel rough!

weekend in pictures - it was a sporting theme...

started with halloween on Fri.. went with the 'oscar and reeva' them...

[attachment=1900:V__79BA.jpg]

that meant I was on the back foot slightly for sat night - stressful day sorting stuff out but good as took mind off footy.

sporting theme continued with a bit of rodeo and lugeing...

finished up there at about 1.. carried on to a few pubs.

only error made here was I asked my mate why his relationship broke up. The what felt like the next 2 hrs listening to what could have been summed up in the sentence 'she was fcuked in the head' was the hardest part of the night.

Red hat tells me we went past Cowboys. think that was about 3ish.

[attachment=1904:V__0101.jpg]

town was getting busy then. Decided to go watch game at the paddington in Parnell. got there via McD's at 4 - big queue outside but no probs big pub got a good possie and settled in.

Glad I made the effort to watch at the pub with a bunch of other supporters. Crowd went nuts. Loved those tries because they were from over 50 out there was time to get to your feet and YELL LIKE A MO FO!! There's always something special about man hugs with strangers after events like that! :good1:

the sun came up. final beer to finish. was around this time I knew I was ready for bed cause they'd sold out of steinies and it took me about 5 mins of staring at the fridge to decide what beer to celebrate with. And for some unknown brain not working reason went with a corona.

good times! 40 years on the clock and a RWC victory to celebrate with!

Is she at the parade? -
I believe she is omnipresent. So, yes.
-

Good wee parade.. Aura sorted out the weather for us just in time.. just wandered across the road to the door of the heritage waited for boys to come out then wandered along the road next to ritchies ute to the park where a bajillion others were.

fark kiwis are a bunch of subdued farkers. gotta love it. Chuck the boys on the back of a truck / ute. Everyone follow them down the road or just stand outside office clap politely. maybe a "YAY" if you're lucky.

Yep.. there's Ritchie with the RWC.. no biggie. righto back inside to work.

Lucky that Ben from accounts dude doesn't just sign cheques. Jersey signed by Conrad, DC, Reado and A.Smith as well. only got my Smith & Smith & Smith signed by Conrad.

Jaysus I though JC had monster arms. SBW has to have been doing curls non stop since 6am this morning i swear those things looked like they were about to BLOW!

can't wait to read a book from Shag about the WC.. and their prep. sounded like they were punishing each other at training to make up for weak pool then tapered off heaps before quarters. must explain those dodgy performances.

Feel like i should be at the pub with the rest of auckland having a pint or 5 but nah back at the desk. carry on!
