Just out of interest. How would you invisage a parade in the CBD district, to suit you Willie?

open top bus from bottom of queen st to aotea sq would be the easiest.. queen st actually pretty quiet in terms of traffic

then can do speeches in the square
-
Yeah, I guess. There are those in other parts of NZ voicing their dissapointment because they won't have a parade.

Steve Tew was very apologetic and spoke about the logistics but promised to do something at a later stage.

Dunedin and Hamilton. New Plymouth, Tauraunga, Eketahuna. You know what I mean.

Steve went on to mention that the ABs would like to get home, having been away for so long.

Well Steve, on one hand I sympathize, on the other, they are generously remunerated and sould parade.

EVERYONE. -

I wanted them to do just one thing, and they've done it. Let them go and see their families.
-

If you choose to live in the sticks don't whinge that the big smokes get everything, can't have it both ways. -

Don't be ridiculous. Two or three parades in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch is almost too much as it is.

This isn't supposed to be a punishment for the players.

Those three locations give most of the country a chance to celebrate the players. -

I do feel a bit bad for Dunedin. I'm sure they would love a parade. However, if I was an AB I would probably just want to spend all of this time celebrating with my family. 3 parades are already heaps. I think the Otago All Blacks should definitely take the cup to Dunedin at some point but I don't think we can expect much more than that.

-

Poor buggers have been away from home for nearly 2 months. Not like 2011 when they'd been feeling the love all over the country and not having to live 12 hours from their family.

Parades are good - lots of people lining up to say they'd been there, keys to the city etc. Let the cup tour the country with a selection of lads from the local province during the off-season.
-

On another point, watching some of it again last night and I don't think I have ever seen such a good start to a test match from the ABs as that.

Ball claimed from kickoff cleanly

Perfectly placed kick

Perfectly timed smashing tackle from Kaino and Australia already under the pump.

They spread it wide and a perfect behind the gain line hit by Conrad. Australia go the other way.

BBBR charges down the attempted clearance from the ruck.

Even without the luck of the ball being touched by Australia after the chargedown this was an incredible forceback.

Lineout perfect quickball followed by big linebreak by Nonu. It gets better!

Then came the first error, which was Smith passing the ball into Whitelock.

Yes.

I have to say that I don't think I've ever been so apprehensive before a game of rugby. I think I said earlier in the tournament that it had a bit of a feel of playing with the house money. That was a fucking stupid statement! On the day, my hand was actually shaking as I was trying to make coffee - I tried to tell myself that it was just caffeine deficiency or the DTs, but....it was tension.

However, as much as could be, my nerves were settled by that start (only to come back with a vengeance after about 20 minutes when I realized that for all our good work the scores will still locked at 3-3.... and to dissipate after Nonu's try....and to come powering back after Kurindrani's..... ). Thankfully RWCs only come round every four years.

Anyway, if you refer back to the Mental Midgets' thread you'll see that start was exactly as prescribed by Dr. b. and Admiral Fourlife. Hansen might as well have been taking our correspondence course! :)

I really wanted to see a few thumping tackles that made a ferocious statement of intent and the last thing I wanted to see was a start like the one we made in 2003 when the Wallabies held onto the ball for about half an hour and ran us about like chickens chasing corn. Many thanks to Jerome and Conrad for setting that tone!
-

Make it like after '91 where Wallabies took it on mystery tours around the country. They fucking lost it in Western Queensland when they got a bit pissed i think.

I thought your point was they didn't get the rub of the green. I took that as meaning that the ABs got more decisions go their way. Neps point was they did get some decisions that somewhat balanced the ledger. Or am i missing something?

That's exactly what I meant. Nepia appeared to take it as all decisions went NZ way and highlighted one that didn't to emphasise his point.

My understanding of 'rub of the green' is in line with yours, not Nepia's.
-

Absolutely. Such good grace when - in my eyes - that could have had some legitimate issues with decisions that didn't go their way.

Me too but I can't be arsed arguing. Ben makes it sound like the Aussies got farked over. I would beg to differ. There was call missed on both sides, fact is we played the better rugby and we won the day. It is not like in 2007 when we went an entire half in posession but having the ref swallow his whistle.
-

My angle is only that decisions went our way in the final and I'd be pretty pissed if I was an Aussie. But they have taken it really well.

That's my angle.
