I have never been a fan of Foster and thats primarily based on his record and the nepotism that he displayed when he coached the Chiefs
When he got a role within the All Blacks i was staggered , how the hell does that happen..?.so much for the best candidate..I had an opportunity to question him before the start of the 2021 season about certain elements of the All Black game after he made a public comment about the draw and pass being one of the big work ons for the team..
I said to Foster with respect i personally think the team has more works ins than just draw and pass, to which i enlighened him .
Firstly i said , i dont think we get enough value out of our props in terms of gainline , and we have also lost the ability to hold onto the ball for long periods , teams that play us hold the ball for far longer periods which creates our next problem , discipline when we have not got any ball,we give away so many penalties many of them needless and finally after watching the plan of 2 pivots fail dismally , i thought our attack was very poor creating very little and relying on individual brilliance ..
(Ireland actually schooled us in this area)
Its fair to say that he disagreed with me , wish i could play that conversation back to him.
I personally think hes out of his depth and void of ideas.Scary to think he doesn't agree with the problems in the AB's that we all see.
Doesn't give me a lot of confidence in what we have in store from Foster and co for the next 2 years. -
i was always surprised he got the job just based off the fact it was clear the rest of the world had been catching up on us for a couple of years culminating in the 2019 loss...and yet we went for continuity

If we'd won in 2019 I could understand him getting the gig. But we had been showing weaknesses for some time under Shag that culminated in us failing to win in Japan. It was the perfect time to change tack. But the NZRFU aren't known for great vision

No I mean more sanctimoniousness dribble.
If anyone is talking verbal diarrhoea it's you.
You tend to think the sun shines out of Foster... so what has he actually added to the team of any value then ?
When have I ever said that ,
Read my posts I have smashed Foster for 2 years .
I have been one of his biggest critics. So more crap from you yet again.
some of these new blokes have come in real hot. It's been a bit of fun to kick off the year

Yep well and Foster has a far more impressive record than Rennie at international rugby,(and head to head Foster is well ahead)
got to say, how would the results look if they swapped coaches? I'd be very surprised if a Foster-coached Aussie side burgled a single win against at Rennie-coached AB side.
That's a moot point, like saying how would results go if you swapped players etc, c'mon NZZP I thought you above those remarks, How would any team go with different players or coaches, geez man!!

It is kind of funny now. I know when it comes to feelings on Foster, @Chris matches and perhaps even surpasses me.
That is why I just thought I must have been whooshed... -

did you record the interview, or were you wishing you had so you could play it back?
My only hope is that Schmidt, while he has a specific title, will be given a much wider scope, and surely in these organisations, if he sees something shit, he will feel he can say its shit.
THe assistants havent been re-appointed yet have they?

The review should be finished by February I heard.
Hopefully it leads to one of Jason O'Halloran or Nick Evans replacing Brad Mooar with our attack and then someone such as Clarke Dermody or Jono Gibbes taking over from John Plumtree with the forwards. Ideally, Scott McLeod needs to go as well, much too passive defense. John Plumtree's a mediocre forwards coach, however, he's always been an excellent defense coach. Should've been his position from the very beginning.

So basically everyone needs to go apart from the head coach?

Do we know how much leverage Foster had/has in choosing his assistants?

Foster's contract has already been extended, the others haven't.

Desperately reaching for further excuses for him I see? The individual's own choice of assistants was a massive part of the application process.

Desperatly searching for more excuses for Foster? The choice of assistants was a huge part of the applications process & solely his decision.
Only someone who didn't bother to read the question could come to that conclusion
We'll take it that you have no idea how much leverage Foster has in choosing his assistants then.

So I take it you don't recall Brett Impey outlining the process in the media? ie 'show us your team'

Obviously not, as I wouldn't have asked.

Don't you get tired of manufacturing dishonest reasons for absolving Foster of any accountability?
