@derpus so they can get on a plane as planned for next weekends game, if thats the case, then NZR are bigger fuckwits than I thought
The potential issue from this is if the RCs don't proceed after the Perth test for whatever reason, then the ABs could be stuck there for a while. I think NZR wanted a fixed RC schedule before committing to Perth, and they didn't get it in time.

@machpants Perth based Channel 9 sports journo.
Right so just making shit up like our journos, WA Premier didn't know when interviewed, not sure how this guy does. 'scope' from a journo is not really enough to fly out of the country on Sun - with the possibility of being in quarantine not only for the weekend of the test but the weekend after. NZR has made the correct decision not to fly out until it is sorted.
@Derpus Not arguing that, if true (and I really hope it isn't), that NZR neglected to inform RA before press release is anything but the actions of a bunch of unprofessional arrogant fluffybunnies.

@derpus said in 2021 Rugby Championship:
@taniwharugby No they wern't. NZRU asked RA if they could reschedule and they obliged.
And no, WA didn't close the borders. If they did the premier of WA wouldn't be saying he will be looking to recover funds from ABs for cancelling.
McGowan is a fuckwit.
The ABs had to quarantine for two weeks. Those are the rules as per the WA website.

Given Robinson in his response didn't deny it all pretty clearly shows that's exactly what they did.
About time Robinson faced some pressure in NZ.

Yeah the entire 'We will remodel SR in our own image', 'Sell our soul without consulting the players first', and now this is pretty fucking shit. Our press is shitter because they are not all over it.

@sparky what does that achieve, besides reaching Pom levels of arrogance? If you can send the D team you can send the A team.
Realism. The main squad are possibly going to be in Europe for most for September, October and November if rumours are true. They are not going to want to spend two weeks in MIQ in NZ on top of that. 50,000 tickets have been sold. I think it could be a great game, as the recent Australia-France games were.
Nothing apart from pride in the Jersey is on the line for NZ in Perth. It would be a good opportunity to have look at some more players at this stage of the World Cup cycle.

@derpus said in 2021 Rugby Championship:
@sparky sounds fair, as long as we get to host the next two at Suncorp and then send our D team to Eden Park.
Would anyone be able to tell?

Robinson.....I know it is difficult times but have we ever had so much trouble with everything the NZR is involved with. He seems to have a "reverse Midas touch" - everything he touches turns to shit!
-
@old-samurai-jack Tbh, I don't know who or what to believe. Robinson, Marinos, NZR, ARU, SANZAAR, they're all as bad as each other. The Aussies complaining about hearing it via the media is a bit pot-calling-the-kettle-black stuff. When the negotiations about SR didn't go their way, ARU and it's interim boss (whose name I forgot) played it all via the media themselves. And now they're complaining again via the media.
It's a mess, and I think we're all fed up with it, but Robinson is definitely not the only one at fault here.

@mikethesnow except Aus and NZ have even lower death and hospitilisation rates and until recently far greater freedoms. Even until the last few days the only freedom you have in UK that Kiwi's don't is to go to Corfu or Marbella.
MSM spouting BS has worked both ways.
I do agree this is a clever way to minimise disruption - line the unions pockets and let some ex pats see their teams
The worst is possibly to come to in Aus and NZ.
And play to more than half-full stadiums.
