Black Caps v Pakistan

The thing that gets me is the old fern adage of the ‘Black Caps collapse’ is a thing of the past now. Whilst our openers are still a bit dicey ( although still miles better than anything since Bruce Edgar retired ) I have every faith that the rest of the specialist batsmen will contribute and even if they fuckup then BJ will put the anchor down. Kane is due a failure, when this happens I still reckon Rossco will remember his class and get a massive score.
As for our bowlers well they speak for themselves. A fine trio like Boult, Southee and Wags are chasing a big blond angry shadow. How good is that ?
Hats off BCs, you guys are the shit.

It's so nice to have the "the" in there.
Yes, a few afternoon beers but I ensured I didn’t mess that up.

It’s only Pakistan...

It's still difficult to get used to two sides turning up to our shores and we absolutely flogged them both in every test with consumate ease.
Coming to NZ to play test cricket is a very tough assignment for anyone these days.
Lost three of the four tosses too, so it's not like we are getting lucky with green tops on the first day.
I would love to have seen a return series (3 tests) in NZ after we got done in Aus. We would probably get beaten but I reckon we would have a shot if everyone was fit.
Whilst their bowling line up scares me I reckon ours is just about even provided Wags is fit.
As for the batting I think we have an edge at present.

NZ cricket highlights. Been marvelling out how poorly put together these videos have been.
Nothing of our Kane reaching 200. Got Mitchell's 50 though, but not his hundred 🙄
Yeah, I just watched that. WTF was the complier thinking?? Williamson double ton and Mitchell ton / declaration are obvious highlights!
Not heard Sumo in a while, and honestly, it wasn't long enough. He's not the voice of cricket. On Kane's wicket ...
"Daryl Mitchell! .... looks on as Kane ....."
I've only seen little of this and the last test but have had to switch it on mute each time he steps into the comms box. Cricket is one of those sports where you just can't have "generalist" commentators. It's too long and there's too much speaking time for them to demonstrate just how little they know about the game.
Pretty harsh. Nisbo has made a very successful career doing just this.
There's only so much ignorance you can show in 80 minutes of rugby, though. In a cricket test match, you've almost got too much time to make an idiot of yourself.

What a special special team.
I'm explaining to my lad that this isn't normal for NZ cricket and to revel in it while we can. Best test team I can remember
I actually get a bit angry when I hear people saying they are waiting for the Black Craps to turn up.
We haven't been rubbish since McCullum and Hesson took over the team. There have been blips but it has been an upwards trajectory the whole way. This helps for the future of NZ cricket too as kids watch their idols at the top of the world!
Spot on. We've been steadily improving for quite a few years now. That said, this team is full of green generational talent for us... Similar to the great Aussie side of the late 90s. Just so many great players at the same time.
Kyle is a hell of a find. Remarkable player.

Spot on. Henry Nicholls will go to bed tonight with a test batting average of 43.91. Yet in terms of longevity/talent/impact etc I still think he's comfortably the 4th best batsman in this team.
We also have a keeper who is great at his job and scores crucial runs when needed.
Boult has been our main spearhead for a number of years but the reemergence of Southee, Wagner staying angry and Jamieson taking to test cricket better than ANY bowler I can remember possibly puts him at 4th place presently.
We don't have a test class spinner. Fuck it. No team is perfect. Last time we did the rest of the team was shithouse.
It's no coincidence this team is doing so well with the individuals we have running around.

Class and form and all that, but he's been a touch less threatening this year (whilst Southee has upped his game).

Yep as has been discussed, Him and Southee now have remarkably similar test stats whereas there was a definite gap a few years back. Still, four seamers all comfortably averaging well under 30 ? I'll take that.

That's so awesome I'm tempted to blow it up, frame it, and put it on the wall. Little old NZ sitting above the so called "big three". Fuck yeah.

Don't know if this has been covered on this thread but the radio coverage posed this question:
Who was the last kiwi bowler to get 10 wickets in a test before KJ?
No cheating, use your brain🙂
I’ll go Boult or Southee

@Siam Mark Craig?
Craig got 10 in the UAE in Vettori's final test (comeback special). Boult got 10 againstthe Windies atthe Basin last time they were here. I don't quite remember the order of those series but I think you're right about Craig.
Before Boult might have been Bracewell's 10 in Hobart, I think it's been a while since Southee got his.
