Contrasting days for two ex-Kiwis. Benji retires a legend in his sport and Manu will be a convicted criminal soon.
Yeah on Manu. What a fucken idiot. Was 500k a year as the highest paid Warrior not quite enough to live on ?
Judges tend to come down pretty hard on meth importers so he is well and truly poked. Real shame, I always thought he came across as a genuinely good guy in his interviews.
pffft, $500k per year??? Big Baby Davis says hold my beer...

Redcliffe Dolphins revealed as ‘preferred candidate’ for 17th NRL team
I really don't know league by I do wonder how or if they'll drag any support away from the Broncs.
At least they're basing it on an existing team, like Freo and Port Adelaide, so they'll have some sort of base support.
Apparently loaded too. $70m in assets and $20m cash. Maybe they were running Manu's cartel.
I liked the idea of a Central QLD team (Mackay, Rocky, Gladstone) but probably to spread out a region. And less $$. A few years ago when the mines were humming I may have been different

Redcliffe Dolphins revealed as ‘preferred candidate’ for 17th NRL team
Redcliffe was close to bankruptcy back in the day before poker machines became legal and the local bogans started emptying their dole money at Dolphins HQ. Im guessing the NRL were seduced by all that sweet sweet cash that wasnt spent on food and clothes for bogan kids. Personally I think the Jets would have been a better bet given the population and massive expansion out that way. But I'm biased because I live in the West and absolutely hate the North Side (which I assume the Dolphins will encompass with a passion). Ultimately I want a local team to support that isn't the Broncos but I'll support them any day over some farking northern team.

@rancid-schnitzel why do you absolutely hate the Northside? Not much difference between Northside and Southside of Brisbane I would have thought.

Ever driven up the coast via the north side? It's horrendous. Shit even driving to a kids birthday party in Kedron was ridiculous. What do you consider the southside?

South of the River- southside.

Thing is that Brisbane is a bloody big city in terms of area and is more than just a north-south divide. I just hate going to the north side. I'm happy to not even cross the Centenary Bridge to be honest. In any case, I have no reasons to support a team based in bloody Redcliffe.

This is where the Warriors will be based in 2022. Reports saying Bennett will be their new coach.
Warriors based there because Redcliffe is our feeder club currently, will be interesting what happens in that space next year as that relationship will not continue.
Bennet is the new coach of the dolphins contract taking him to 2025 where we can come out of his coffin to win his next comp.

The Warriors have reportedly signed Eels back-rower Marata Niukore on a four-year deal worth $2.5 million.
Sharks five-eighth Luke Metcalf has also agreed to join the Warriors from 2023 on a two-year deal, although Sharks trying to get him to back flipboth pretty good signings I would have thought, they would still be hoping to round out the announcements with Joey Manu if they could lure him, but that negotiation is still in progress

Warriors are a smokey for the spoon
Roger gone. Brown a very ordinary coach. The distraction of home games maybe later in the year, after a 3rd straight Aus based season. Currently paying $9
Saved by the fact the Cowboys are awful at recruiting, and the Dragons and Tigers exist.

yeah and they just brought back Stacey Jones into the coaching team and although I feel he was an anazing player I dont think he adds much coaching wise, (except coaching halves)
I tend to agree next year, my confidence is not high at all..would again rely heavily on key players not getting injured and confidence increasing if the teams win early games...and that is a big if

so it's fucking silly season in teh recruitment stakes. Players making moves, lots for the 2023 season (which menas prepare for the barrage of stories about wanting an early release, get rid of him he's not committed etc)
Penrith obviously battling to keep everyone so they lost Kikau to the Bulldogs. Not a huge loss though
Melbourne have lost Kaufusi to the Dolphins, again no massive loss especially in another year
The Bulldogs pinched Reed Mahoney from the Eels in a bit of a shockThe big free agent is The Cheese, and everyone wants him. So, of course, it looks like the Roosters will get him.

Bulldogs recruiting nicely, still need to play well together though. Kikau is a pretty good buy in my opinion, always a threat on the edge. Penrith do have other backrowers but Kikau if used well is dangerous
The cheese to the roosters who will probably won't supposedly pay him overs compared to other clubs..wow that is a great pick up if rumours are true.
Dolphins will need to pick up a few names soon.. not just kaufusi, and agree not a huge loss to the storm
