NRL 2021

I hope Latrell gets what’s coming to him. Grub. Wouldn’t have minded a few of the Roosters guys laying a few punches on him at the end
-
Latrell Mitchell is thr biggest piece of shit in the comp and the way the commentators go out of their way not to call him out on it pisses me off.
That was a fucking dog shot last night that would look out of place in park football. If he plays again this season the NRL is fucked.
Apparently the only way to get sent off is to be a forward from an unpopular team. The ref last night was fucking useless and went out of his way not to punish latrell for all the shit he was doing. In the old days Mitchell would have got a fucking hiding last night, and I would have cheered, loudly.

@act-crusader More than likely, similar to Billy Slater in 2018...
It’s a disgusting hit and one clearly avoidable. Manu’s cheek and eye blew up immediately.
But no doubt we will hear every one in the book this week - “Manu was falling” “no intent” “it’s a tough game” “Latrell had turned the corner after his episodes off the field” “it’s finals time and you hate to see the ‘best’ players out” “he’s someone the young indigenous kids really love to watch”
It started last night "in slow motion" "no intent"
Fuck off, led with the shoulder at head height, and the only reason an arm was involved was as he swung it.to make sure if he missed with the shoulder he took his head off.
Manu was equal parts devastated and furious.
-
@mariner4life geez I agree totally
-
@mariner4life Manu is a pretty laid back player and like others I don’t think I’ve seen him fire up like that before.
I forgot one we’ll probably hear today - “Latrell has sent a text to Manu”

Yeah he looked reeeaaal contrite last night when he came back on, picked a fight then laughed his way through the handshakes.
Fuckhead
-
@mariner4life not to mention slamming the ball down within inches of a prone players head and slapping at his mate trying to calm him down. Gagai?? Any decent person would have apologised genuinely to a good mate he did that do asap. Not seek crowd support by hamming it up as if he was the victim for his binning. Trent Robinson should be thanked by the Nrl for his honesty so soon after the event.
-
@mariner4life Yeah just listened to Channel 9s version of what they thought and of course Gus bring out the 'for anyone that's played the game' and 'we're gonna be missing a marquee player for the finals now' rubbish as well as Gallen and Johns for trying to say there was no intent or malice in the shot lol they should all be banned from commentating after the rubbish they all started speaking about the incident. Channel 9 is a garbage and way behind the times.
The incident reminds me of Hopoate on Galloway in 2005. Hoppa got 18 weeks or something for it which ended his career. Mitchell deserves a lengthy ban for it, certainly more than th 4-6 that people keep saying.
-
What's shit is my expectations are 2 weeks

As night follows day, they’re all so predictable. It will be interesting how the Foxsports guys play it this afternoon. There’s a few more brain cells (combined) on that channel.

A chick on 7 this morning seemed to me to be more critical of Manu for reacting the way he did rather than the hit itself.
-
So Mitchell’s been charged with a Grade 2 reckless tackle which means he could get up to 9 weeks. 6 weeks minimum for an early guilty plea
-
@act-crusader So, what would constitute a grade 3?

A
NZerNZ Warrior doing the exact same tackle.FIFY
Nah, any NZer in the lead up to a test match. The Warriors even get the bunker calls going their way sometimes these days ...further evidence for the Ozzyfying of the club.

Listening to the comments now, LM is in for a big one. As well as the incident the actions after indicate someone who needs time on the sidelines to think about how to play sport. Aggression has to be controlled with good technique. This is still a sport an injuring an opposition player should never be the objective . As bad is the hit was ( how is that only Grade 2 - I have no idea how bad you have to be to get a grade 3 ? ) the behaviour afterwards is an issue. Corey Harawira-Naera demonstrated the expected behaviour when you make a mistake. It matters if you are trying to build the right culture in a tough sport.
Perenara’s inaction is inexcusable - just terrible, the ref less so but still bad. Both should take a break before coming back.
Also Bennett should be taken to task. I can remember coaches dragging players who had lost control with their aggression. There is a duty of care to look after those players. Get their head space right.
LM has a history of issues and he will be trashed in the media. Hopefully he comes out with a sincere apology, and cops his large suspension on the chin - hoping for 9 weeks.

Doesn’t fix anything but Annesly confirmed today that it should have been send off, Perenara relieved of duties next week
