If you haven’t seen the game, try and watch the highlights of the Japan vs France game. Was pretty good.
You know I love my bball bro - but there’s just no way that I’m watching the highlights of that game
Okay then. It went to OT (Japan actually should’ve won in regulation) and one of the Japanese guards was lights out. But Wemby took over in OT and France got the win.
Huchimura was ejected (harshly) in my view but Japan hung in there.

@ACT-Crusader Good shot from the game

that US team is quite ridiculous. The Sudanese went on a little run in the 4th this morning, and then the US kick it out to Durant who drains a huge 3 and it's curtains. The talent discrepancy is stark (not surprising given 3 of the Sudanese have been on a Taipans roster recently).
Durant looks incredible this Olympics.

3-on-3 is fucking weird with the rules though. I reckon there is enough of a difference to negate the obvious talent advantage an NBA player would have.

get the fuck out man - are you honestly telling me that a team of Brown, Brunson, KAT, Randle couldn't deal to these other clowns?
They'd win in a canter
-
12 second shot clock, no pull up 3s on the break? absolutely zero post up game? Soft NBA fluffybunnies would be blowing in seconds
-
@mariner4life there's plenty of post up - it's just post-feed, kick-out, loads of 3's, the odd spin move down low. Little bit of drive and dish.
Brunson would be amazing
-
3-on-3 is basically a different sport to standard Bball let alone NBA ball. The way it is reffed in particular. If you haven’t been playing at a decent level and used to the rules and nuances of it, then I don’t think it’s a walk in the park to transition.
I have a few mates who played standard ball and are now on the Asia circuit and it took them a year or so to get comfortable with the game.

I reckon you, me and Barbs would have a shot at a medal against this rabble
i fucking suuuuuuck at basketball. being midgetly short until i was 16 meant i never learned to play
-
@mariner4life the Poles made a bunch of 3's today - quick release off kick-outs and in-bounds off USA scores too
It's an odd game

i thought a "3" was only worth 2 in 3x3? and a "2" is worth 1, the same as a free throw? So maybe you want Joel Embiid and James Harden on your team
-
I wonder what the logic was around it's inclusion. It's just inferior to regular basketball on all levels. Not as fun to watch. Not as athletic. But also not that international - there's no countries like Nigeria or South Sudan, for example.
I understand why they included rugby 7s instead of 15s - a better spread of nations being a key reason.
But 3x3 is just a shitter, less diverse and less skilful version of 5x5 bball.

yep that's right, that's why I picked KAT - I never want Harden or Embiid on any of my teams!

@barbarian if you look at it from a marketing perspective, it is huge in Asia. China, Japan, Philippines etc have competitive leagues with a bit of money behind it. It’s become huge in Europe too.
But it’s still on trial though and that is why there is only 8 teams. But if they expanded to 12 that would capture an African region on its own, plus another Asia team.
