Victor Davis Hanson
You forgot to mention he Is one of Trump's biggest supporters and wrote a book praising him. In it, he excuses his lies, (he calls then "little fibs") and writes about "deep state anti-Trump conspiracies" - including secret plots to forcefully remove Trump voters and replace them with Latin American immigrants.
Seems to me he's a bit of a fruitcake or is mining the rich vein of conspiracy theory and culture wars in the US.

Interesting
You rarely address the point made. Just spend time digging up 'dirt' to attack the messenger. Or divert to another topic
This is what the elite do. Their actions are so out there and corrupt etc., that they have decided to not even try defending their pronouncements or action. Just trust (like little innocent children) and believe. Don't question or ever think for yourself.
Anyone who doesn't. Just throw mud. They are conspiracy theorists, evil Trump supporters, deniers, murderers, selfish, etc. etc. etc. It was very effective once. Not so much now.
So, now the ongoing move is to close it down. Ban free speech for various dubious reasons.

You do realise that you have just described Trump to a "T"?

Your point was "Look, here's a bloke who supports my view that the US is run by the elites and weaponizing the court system against Trump". I addressed your point by pointing out Hanson doesn't actually support your argument as he's so biased towards Trump he doesn't have much credibility
This is what the elite do. Their actions are so out there and corrupt etc., that they have decided to not even try defending their pronouncements or action. Just trust (like little innocent children) and believe. Don't question or ever think for yourself.
I'd agree with you that a whole section of US politics - what you might call "the elite" - have ignored (in a US context) Blue Collar sections of society and that is causing huge problems. I also think Obama is the worst President of my lifetime - a weak, vain, out-of-touch man who did significant damage to the US. I just don't believe in anti-Trump conspiracy theories across the state/federal systems or that Trump is the answer. He's the opposite cheek of the same elite arse
Anyone who doesn't. Just throw mud. They are conspiracy theorists, evil Trump supporters, deniers, murderers, selfish, etc. etc. etc. It was very effective once. Not so much now.
It's not throwing mud to question the credentials of commentators and find out if they can be taken seriously. If someone like Benz talks about Israel and US foreign policy, you need to know he believes Jews have too much influence and, more importantly, tried to hide that belief.
So, now the ongoing move is to close it down.
You mean like Trump threatening to jail his political opponents?
Ban free speech for various dubious reasons.
You're confusing the US with Putin's Russia.

I know you do this. You always do it. Just like the elite. Just throw mud as he doesn't agree with their (that you have adopted) view (or promoted view) that everything is great in the West.
But what about Russia. Or Trump. Don't look at us. Just trust, As the politicians support an elite that profit from pointless wars etc.

If "throwing mud" is questioning the provenance of a commentator and what lens I should use to get an objective view, then I'm a proud mud-thrower.

You are.
But people doing this, sadly, do countries so much harm. Without any awareness IMO. Some have awareness (eg the elites' media) but others, without thinking, just follow the leader.
And you also like diverting attention. Like your blue-collar comment
The video was about weaponizing the justice system. It is so obvious this has been done. It will cause so much grief in the US as a large portion of the country will (rightly) just give up on the legal and justice system. And the political system too. But what then? What happens when people no longer trust or have faith in (and with good reason) justice and the political set-up?

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — A conservative group has told a Georgia judge that it doesn’t have evidence to support its claims of illegal ballot stuffing during the the 2020 general election and a runoff two months later.
Texas-based True the Vote filed complaints with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in 2021, including one in which it said it had obtained “a detailed account of coordinated efforts to collect and deposit ballots in drop boxes across metro Atlanta” during the November 2020 election and a January 2021 runoff.
A Fulton County Superior Court judge in Atlanta signed an order last year requiring True the Vote to provide evidence it had collected, including the names of people who were sources of information, to state elections officials who were frustrated by the group’s refusal to share evidence with investigators.
In their written response, attorneys for True the Vote said the group had no names or other documentary evidence to share.
True the Vote’s assertions were relied upon heavily for “2000 Mules,” a widely debunked film by conservative pundit and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza. A State Election Board investigation found that surveillance camera footage that the film claimed showed ballot stuffing actually showed people submitting ballots for themselves and family members who lived with them, which is allowed under Georgia law.

Winger, you really need to go back and educate yourself about trump. Trump has played people like you to get elected.
I met a couple who honestly believed that Biden is an actor put in place by trump so that there won’t be civil war. This is what will cause the downfall of the USA. -

of course not, theres been dozens and dozen of court cases and not a shred of evidence to support their looney claims.
why
because its a big fucking lie by the wanna be orange dictator in waiting. Hes a loser who hates to lose
but keeps on losing -
@Tim said in US Politics:
@Virgil There's been no evidence presented, but it's good to highlight when even the most committed dead-enders have to admit that. Just to lay it to rest. (Probably too optimistic a take.)
This is it. Too many nutcases focussing their energy on conspiracy theory bollocks instead of actually thinking about what's wrong and how to fix it - much easier to have a collective orgasm when Orange Donald yells "ultimate and absolute revenge".

It cuts both ways. Mrs Meldrew has an American friend, a fellow writer, who wanted to know what Brits thought of the revelations that Republican-appointed US Supreme Court judges are actually controlled by a secret cabal of right-wing, Trump-aligned Dark Money financiers...

Good attempt but it doesn't work like it did once.
Regarding Trump.
It's really not about Trump. Trumps rise is a result of the issues in the US and West. In a world of gutless, corrupt & pathetic leaders (NZ has some recently in Jacinda - WEF linked - and a nice but somewhat pathetic, man boy who somehow became PM).
Trump is just someone who gives people hope. That he won't be another poor leader. Or pathetic. Like Trudeau. And he did deliver in some areas. Like pulling out of this climate change - give us your money and give up your freedoms - stuff. He's also anti-war. Rare in the US or West.
edit. and he did try to close the borders.
-
Real problems — rising prices, a crisis at the border, foreign policy challenges — often take a back seat to more lurid concerns.
..... a parade of Cassandras came on stage to bemoan, one after the other, the dire state of the nation — and to exalt in Trump’s commitment to saving the American people. They ranged from “concerned moms” warning about child abuse by elite paedophile rings, drag queens and transgender predators to former administration officials bashing “globalist elites” and the United Nations.
It does not matter that in reality, violent crime is falling in the US, America’s jails are not full of political prisoners, drag queens are not predators, Ukraine is an allied democracy and there is no evidence of election fraud: everywhere there is a deeply held belief among delegates that they must save the country, not only from Democrats, but also from the deep state (meaning the federal government), shadowy groups of international elitists and non-Trump-supporting Republicans such as the former vice-president Mike Pence.

Didn't the US Supreme Court stop this occurring
If the Supreme court heard both sides. Where both sides could make their case without threats of being sued. Then the public might have faith in the election process. Now a lot don't

Ive never read that it is. But have that the jail rate per head is high in the US
drag queens are not predators,
never read that they are, That isn't the concern though
Ukraine is an allied democracy.
They have suspended elections. But democracy <> no issues
and there is no evidence of election fraud:
Did Bush win fairly vs Gore. But re 2020. Shame the Supreme Cort didn't take a case
everywhere there is a deeply held belief among delegates that they must save the country,
MAYBE LIKE
From endless wars
Maybe from WW3
From open borders
From climate change solutions
shipping jobs overseas
Huge Govt debt
etcnot only from Democrats, but also from the deep state (meaning the federal government), shadowy groups of international elitists and non-Trump-supporting Republicans such as the former vice-president Mike Pence.
One comment. So what if Trump supporters don't like Pence. That the nature of politics. There will be always be one or 2 that raise silly issues. But this applies to both sides
