Sooooo, who still thinking Ioane is next ten off the rank?
He’s been bloody good this year, one shocker does not ruin a career
This isn't his first poor game this year.
Not exactly surrounded by the highlanders let alone the abs
At this level a player with aspirations to play five-eighth for the All Blacks should shine.

@Kiwiwomble McDowall got a dubious penalty in the 1st half when he clearly had his hands on the ground first. Lamborn mentioned this to Pickerill too. It's a lottery.
Despite that dubious call I thought McDowall had a very good game.
Lamborn pushed the boundary too much.
Hickey played pretty well too.
-
@antipodean as I say, happy to keep him playing for Otago
By far his worst game for a long time but He touched the ball twice leading up to vahakolos try, tiny glimpse of what he can do
-
@Bovidae sadly this was Pickerill, so lottery all round...missed quite a bit unfortunately, if he was consistent you could handle it, but he is all over the shop.
For me the lack of YC with Otago hard on attack and a professional foul and then that shocker near the end with Alaimalo lying on the OTago player stood out...the big ones he missed the other way were more blatant knock ons
-
That missed penalty by Josh to tie the game at 18, was like a kick in the guts for Otago. It’s almost as if heads dropped and Southland sniffed opportunity.
-
@taniwharugby You could argue that the problems with inconsistency started in the first few minutes when Otago defended the Southland maul. The AR seemed confident there should have been more than just a penalty. Of course, the same AR later used "our" when referring to a Southland player when the handbags happened.

Not sure why Canterbury let Ray Nu'u go. He's better than any of the midfielders they have now.
Nu’u was a major standout in ChCH club rugby for Sydenham for a couple of seasons before he was picked up by Southland ,a lot of Canterbury Fans kept asking why he wasn’t given a chance in the Canterbury mitre 10 squad.
No surprise to me he is going well wouldn’t be out of place in a SR squad.
Canterbury has had a set of shit coaches in the last 3 years -
Well done Southland, played awesome.
Wow, Ioane did a Daugunu eh. In fact he made Daugunu last week look accomplished. He's really gone off the boil, very disappointing.
Koroi is flaky as, what was that attempted ankle tap?
No doubting Lamborn's passion and tenacity but he was being a bit of an egg in this game eh. What was with slapping people in the face of they made a mistake in the first half?
Nu'u does some great stuff but really looks to be lacking pace to make that step up.
GPT and Eade look like they would make great SR squad players as backup, as does Otago openside.

@Chris It was bizarre that he was left out in 2018 when he was easily the best in club rugby that year but they decided to go for 2 journeymen in Phil Burleigh and Sam Beard instead which did nothing for them in the long term as they both only lasted the 1 season.

Yeah exactly we were not impressed with those selections they were both poor.
I was thinking that season Nu’u must get a chance then they name the squad with those two in,Bizarre is a great word for it no rhyme or reason to it.
