That's so Village is one of the best cricket accounts anywhere. This one is great with the audio on:
Love David Lloyd too. ( That was him commentating?)

I missed a runout during a regimental sports day from not much further out. Instead of walking up to the wickets and dislodging the bails I hurled the ball which missed by a coat of varnish and went for four. The batsman was one of my soldiers and thought I'd done him a sneaky favour. No. Not deliberately.

I got run out in a school game when I was backing up too far, the other batsman hit it straight and knocked off the bails at the non strikers end….umpire gave me out so I had to go but as the bowler never got a hand to it I wasn’t actually out by the letter of the law. Talk about being robbed.

got a run out once...umpire was a mate of the guy and even thought he was about half a meter out didn't give it, next ball i took middle wicket out of the ground, turned around and just said, "how about that? is that out?"...one of very few instances of sporting/smart arse prowess in a long life of trying to be good at sport

I dropped a straightforward catch at short midwicket, only to run the batsman out with a direct hit off the bounce. The bowler was unimpressed with the lost wicket for his stats, but less annoyed overall than otherwise.

I normally wicket keep but one game I was filling in for a team so didn't have the gloves. I also usually played in a higher grade so the team was excited to have me playing for them.
Early in the game I dropped an absolute sitter at short mid wicket, then the batsmen had a mix up and were both caught in the middle of the pitch and I proceeded to throw the ball about 2M above the keeper for a couple of overthrows. It was by far the most embarrassing moment of my cricketing career, I just wanted to crawl in a hole and die.
Then I finished the game off with a 2nd ball duck, bowled trying to hit a seriously bad "seam bowler" out of the ground. They must have wandered wtf I was doing in a higher grade.

@donsteppa if this is what cricket is like then I might start watching it 😂
