@NTA Yes, but protecting people’s brains and preserving the spectacle are not incompatible concepts

But that presumes that red cards act as a deterrent to high tackles. If that was true, we should now see less high tackles and less red cards. Correct?

The support play is a little lacking.

You're assuming players use their brain all the time

Our forwards were better when Akira was on. Perhaps SB is a bit tired and SW should have had an HIA

All Blacks look messy as hell. Poor passing is wasting time with one man advantage.

Here's why I'm not against either red card.

The problem is that the margin between Ofa's tackle being perfectand being a red card is so small. I'm not sure what Ofa did technically wrong. If you were his coach, how would you get him to change his technique so he pulled off a legal tackle?

Don't be so fucking lazy and get lower. You can do it at scrum time.

At scrum tim you know the other player will be at the same height.

But you KNOW that you can't tackle above the level of the shoulders. It's lazy driving up from chest height

It's impossible to not get it wrong though at some point. To play rugby, you must accept that players can miss and make a high shot.

    Man I hate Sumo.

He used to be a good guy, but he has become such an arrogant, self-satisfied, metro git. Hate it when he acts like he was an AB legend himself.

SB has gone to sleep. Not surprising, given that he has had fuck all rugby.

Looks obvious when you go frame by frame, but there seems no consideration of context and appreciation of the speed of the contact

Then what is the point in the red card? You are saying that players are too dumb for the red card to act as a deterrent. So what is the point in it? Is it for a punishment? Because if it is that why not punish the player more by handing out longer bans? Instead, all of us suffer the punishment.

Agreed - slowmo fucks with perception but that's why there is a pretty clear framework in place which takes stuff like that into account.

He's normally the one off with a red card, isn't he?
