Clearly the Magpies broke Canterbury, now every Tom, Dick and Harry can beat them.
Only one Bay has beaten Canterbury this season and that was today...
I don't know why you're sticking your beak in, your lot lost to both teams regardless of their current names.
Yeah okay. Last time I checked it was a Canterbury v Bay game thread. Why wouldn’t I be here to congratulate the Bay and their supporters for a dominant performance.

You Cantabs say congratulations in a strange way.

Well that was good afternoon out and completely unexpected. Had some family stuff to do earlier and nearly didn’t make it along. The kids weren’t keen to go to the game so I jumped on the bike after hitting record on MySky. Got over the handy Matapihi rail bridge, walked into the ground and heard the ground announcer start to say “and the score is now 22 - 3 to - ” bugger, oh well, it was a good day for a bike ride “ - the Bay of Plenty Steamers” ... really? excellent!!!
Watched the last 55 minutes of the game from behind the dead ball line at the city end of the ground. Having just watched the Sky Sport Highlights I can see what @bayimports means about some luck around the passes that I couldn’t see from end on. Overall though we looked like a classic Bay side of old - tough tackling - didn’t look like missing many - strong up front, giving away the most penalties, and creative with ball in hand.
Canterbury looked incredibly un-Canterbury like. Far more ‘human’ than usual, and it always looked like they’d eventually make a mistake to let us off the hook. For the first five minutes I was at the ground I assumed there’d be a classic Canterbury punishing bounce-back, but it soon became clear it was strangely unlikely...

2018: We have a forum post about how Akira Ioane wouldn't make the Canterbury team, he is by far the best player in the final and Auckland wins.
2020: We have a forum post about how Akira Ioane wouldn't make the Canterbury team, he is in the All Blacks and Canterbury are absolute shite.
Hmm, I think those legendary Rueben Thorne Powerpoint presentations may just be a bit shit.

Taking poetic licence to Cantabury bash or did I miss the bit where it was said he wouldn't make the Canterbury team?

@Crazy-Horse There's been a couple of guys over the years who reckoned they'd seen detailed statistics from Canterbury coaches that proved that Ioane wouldn't make the Canterbury team. They were, of course, completely full oh shit.

@Donsteppa I spotted you walking around the running track at one point. We had a crisis of fries not arriving at the pub and missed the first few minutes.
Seemed to be one of those golden days where the bounce of the ball seemed to favour us and the Cantabs were never far from a mistake. But we deserved the win for a very efficient performance and I'm starting to like the Black/Trask combo with some excellent positional kicking and Trask looks dangerous these past couple of weeks with space to run. Very, very enjoyable day

@Chris Is McAlister out for the season? Klein is a terrible thrower, but his replacement is even greener.
I hear he maybe back on a couple of weeks

Funningly enough not really upset about such a drubbing but glad it was at the hands of a team like the Bay rather than a Waikato or Auckland (although that might still happen). I think we have been woeful for the entire competition and the wheels have been due to massively fall off - I guess you have to sink to the bottom before you can get back up again

@booboo LOL they love to dish it out on others when they're top dog but don't take it well when it gets handed back to them.....
I don't dish it out, so why should I have to take it? This Canterbury bullshit is just that, bullshit. Both sides are as bad as each other.
I know a couple of very knowledgeable rugby types that have been put off contributing on here because they happen to be Cantabs and are very much aware of the shit that Cantab posters can get. It's a pity because they have some very interesting insights, albeit Cantab focused.
The two annoying Cantab posters that spring to mind don't contribute much here any more so let's move on. Hardly a thread goes by without some sort of Cantab sledge. Maybe then we will get some insights from Cantabs who actually know what they are talking about.
