I would have thought Ross would have filled out more since he's a decade older, but he appears to have adopted Piri's arse but stayed skinny everywhere else.

Orc forwards have been brutal. Christie and Hunt have been well contained.

Auckland using the same blueprint Harbour used - don't give us the ball and use a big pack to smother us.

Huge difference from last year's team is we're much smaller from 4-8.

Somewhat better second half (we won it!) - but, mainly once the benches came on.

Why does Ta$man get guys released from the ABs to play but no-one else?

    Didn't help them much.

I thought Niko Jones might initially be caught out a bit physically/size wise but he doesn't look out of place - good stuff.

Haha I didn't bank on Ta$man playing their worst game in years!

Just finished watching. Far out where did that come from! It all started up front where we really gave it to them, with Plummer and Rayasi benefiting from fromt foot ball. Ruru also had his best game in a long long time. We kept it simple by running hard and straight and Ta$man with their ABs didn't want to know.

Defence was strong, led by unsung hero Adrian Choat who surely will get a SR contract somewhere, supported brilliantly by Gibson and Redlinger Kapa. Hope Whetton's injury isn't too serious either although it doesn't look good.

Must say David Havili had a dead set shocker. Up there with one of the worst individual performances I've ever seen.

    @Stargazer We'll keep him πŸ˜‰

I've always liked Sullivan since seeing him at Kings College tbh. I thought he'd go back to Hawke's Bay like they always do but it's good to actually keep one that came from out of town for once πŸ™‚

I'm wondering how long a player can play out of his skin like David Havili has done the last two years - being consistently one of the best (outside) backs on the field and still being ignored by the ABs selectors - without it impacting a player mentally. The pressure on players on the ABs fringes is immense and he's had to overcome adversity as well with injuries and his health scare earlier this year. PU-J being called in the squad as injury cover, yesterday; maybe that was just a big blow that distracted him a bit.

I think he's allowed a bad game; more than one actually. Still one of the best backs in NZ and he should be in the ABs camp right now.

Choat has been very impressive for Auckland, definitely should pick up a contract somewhere

@African-Monkey I hope he'll see sense soon and come back home. This is just a youthful indiscretion that we'll forgive him.

@Stargazer I do rate Havili and yes, he's allowed a bad game, but he's just one of those unfortunate people who has other people in his way,

If he moved to 12 I think he’d cruise into the ABs, his kicking game would be very useful.

He will never be back as a 15.

I picked a good game to go see live, beautiful day and got to see Ta$man completely dominated.

The forwards really delivered today, defence was super organised and at something like 31-0 you see the intensity drop (and the long break for that awful injury).

    Score line massively flattered Ta$man.

Plummer, Ruru, Sullivan all had good games. So many big hits out there, crowd was having a ball.

Double cross kick was a fun try, amazing handling skills.

@Kirwan Pretty hard to pick him as a 12 though when he never plays there at SR level. Maybe he'll see more time there next year with Ennor injured? The Crusaders don't have a hell of a lot of options there and MacLeod looks average from what I've seen of him so far.

Yeah he needs to move positions at SR level.

Havili runs sideways too much for my liking at
    12. Get rid of that habit and he might be handy at the highest level.
