@billsy111 the Canes should have signed McClutchie, I agree on that. He’s better than both Morgan and Garden-Bachop but to me there is a high chance he would play second fiddle to Love long term, so he’s probably better off signing with M.P. especially if he’s going to be the king pin there.
I raise this question to everyone on this thread, if you had to pick McClutchie or Love as your long term 10 who would you pick? My assumption as to why McClutchie hasn’t cracked a Super Rugby contract with any team in NZ is probably down to ?? around his size and ability to step up to the next level. The good thing now is that McClutchie has a chance to prove his doubters wrong by playing solid rugby for MP, where he may never have got that chance if they didn’t exist.
I wish the lad all the best.
McClutchie every day of the week.
Since when did size matter at 10?
What's a player supposed to do beyond dominating in NPC to suggest he's got the 'ability to step up to the next level'? -

@bones but a player hasn't peaked at 19 which suggests a fleeting moment of brilliance at that raw age is only a small snippet of what is to come.
Or the rest is a large snippet of what is to come.

Love is a fairly handy fullback from what I've seen
It is interesting that in both the NZ Schools and U20s Morgan has been preferred to Love at 1st 5. In the NZS team Love was actually on the wing and played at fullback for the NZ U20s this year. I think that says something about Love's game management at this stage of his career.
I can't help but think "Trask" when watching him.

@delicatessen fair call. I'm loving the confidence which is why I'm pretty keen to see how they both go over the next few years. Having a draft in Super Rugby would make shit so interesting because there would be many more debates like this.
Size doesn't matter which is why I said he should have been signed by the Canes. Some may see it as a negative though, why else did no one pick him up before this? I'm genuinely keen to know the answer to that question.

You and me both, mate.

@bones maybe so, I guess the proof will be in the pudding as his career progresses.
He might even get to be as good as Tyler Bleyendall

@bones let's hope Love doesn't forge the same path and end up at Munster like Tyler and JH. I will well and truely eat humble pie if that ends up being the case.

Should this whole chat be taken to the canes thread?

If you build it, they will come.

Interview with Lincoln McClutchie on SENZ this morning.
https://player.whooshkaa.com/episode?id=918743
He says that there was no communication from the Canes over the last year.

A triple announcement tomorrow. -
@daffy-jaffy Can't say I know them. What positions do they play?
-
@stargazer The Inisi brothers have played for North Harbour NPC & Tongan 7s. One is a Number 8 and the other a midfielder.

i have to say i like how MP are doing this
Its been said before most of the Aussie teams were only up to NPC standard so this team with a couple of real talents supported by quite a bit of NPC experience should be mid table i would think
