2020 Rugby Championship in Oz

@taniwharugby No idea TBH, I’ve not seen a list. It also hasn’t been confirmed exactly how/ when and for how long their NH guys are going to be involved.
No surprise with the Boks, they’ll keep their World No 1 for well over a year now! It’ll be the longest non-ABs time ever, I think. EDIT: It already is - took a pandemic to do it

Crucially they've defended their status for a grand total of zero games...

But they’ll have held it for TWO WHOLE YEARS, minimum! Outside of NZ it has never been longer than a few months. An aceivement I am sure will be crowed about.

And laughed at.

who at SAANZAR thought it was a good idea to announce it schedule and all before everyone had confirmed?
obviously disappointed SA arn't coming but a pit pissed it seems to have been so miss handled

How funny would it be if we won on Sunday, to retain Bled in the greatest of matches and then RC was canned and the AB's were released for the NPC! Happy days!
Even if the RC is cancelled, we’ve still got 2 bleds to go in Oz

This guy. A perfect audition for RA's CEO position.

Wasn't it widely agreed - after NZR claimed it wasn't - that every union involved had been given the schedule with enough lead time, and approved it accordingly?

My recollection is RA were amenable to a five week tournament, but SA and the Argies wanted six. Not that they'd agreed to the dates, let alone had RSVP'd for the party.

I thought all four unions had agreed. Saffas had made that agreement conditional. That's why when NZRU wanted to make it five weeks they objected.
The reasons not to come make some sense, even if i do think they are basically just 'shit we'll be underdone and lose Number 1'. Waiting till now to say so is negligent.
NZRU and RA need to put the knives away and secure the future of SR and TRC asap. Getting Japan involved in the TRC is a no fucken brainer.
-
@Derpus The "underdone" argument is stronger for the Pumas than the Springboks, and they are in Oz and want to play. I understand and agree with the player welfare issues, so IMO SANZAAR/RA should now do anything to organise warm-up games for the Pumas against decent teams to reduce their risk.

@Rapido I actually like not seeing the ABs in the NPC. It allows us to watch the next generation of players which is the most exciting thing about the NPC for me. Many of them won't get selected if the ABs are in it.
Given Super Rugby, the NPC does present that opportunity for young players, but there’s something about the ABs playing NPC that lifts the standard and often the other players around them.
Even though my team lost, the best game in my view was the Naki RS game. Good quality, close and ABs impacting the game for both sides.
