I think the NZ rugby fan can accept losses if there is the feeling of moving forward, innovation, and change. We won't like it, we'll whinge and carry on like drama queens but this is different. The problem is that it is the same old problematic dross for the last few years and nothing is changing! So friggen frustrating!

I remember quite a bit of squealing and whinging coming from fans when the ABs lost back to back tests in 2008.
“Haven’t learned from RWC”, “what’s up with these selections?” “Outpassioned and outcoached” “chopped and changed team”I’m not saying the situations are the same, but I’ve heard some of the same things I’ve read in the last couple of weeks.
Who knows where this will go and what lies ahead, but I’ve never been a sky is falling in or we’re in a massive pile of poo kind of guy (even in 98-99...), but there are some big challenges ahead with game plans and personnel.

@ACT-Crusader Yawn. You used to funny. Try harder.

You couldn't fit anymore cliches in a post if you tried. 😉

And the question is whether Foster is up to the challenge.
-
@ACT-Crusader this is the biggest deceleration of aura since 1998, Im worried. I predict a coup next year.

Make you as sick as a parrot, then?

We only have to go back to the laughable interview process when every man and his dog knew that Foster had already been locked ,there’s some individuals that sat on that panel looking like right goons at the minute .Graham’s Henry’s who was part of that panel has his filthy finger prints all over it , one of the good ole boys that ensure one of his mates stayed in the job .
We needed a new voice that had not been part of the previous regime .
We have actually struggled to score tries against the better teams or the teams that have met us on the advantage line .
What every happened to negating the strength of team by playing field position with a good kick game , forcing the Englands and the Argentinian’s of this world to play from inside their own red zone .and then apply pressure , an old Crusaders tactic from the early 2000s..
Hearing from some players that were under Brad Mooar , that he is not better than a club coach .. -
I still cant believe that we paid out a club to get Mooar back.

@Tim said in The 'How is Fozzie going?' thread:
@KiwiMurph Yeah, that was posted on this forum when Mooar announced his departure for Wales.
Spot on there he wasn’t rated by Razor

You have to tip your hat to Foster.
To have no discernible coaching ability and then somehow worm your way into the coaching setup of one of the world's most successful sporting teams and remain there for 9 years takes some doing. Pretty impressive really.

Attack mastermind to complement the defensive nous of McLeod.

So close to 3 wins from 4 and very different emotions I suggest...
Great post, but close isn't good enough. We were close in every loss in '98 IIRC (5 of them) but couldn't find the edge, we weren't happy with close losses then either. A loss is a loss.
Most of us are complaining about the passive approach, lack of innovation, combinations and cohesiveness, leadership, team spirit, strategy, even the apparent lack of desire to win at times (really hope that isn't the case). That comes from the top.
It just looks flat. Maybe the fun of the game has gone for some of them, but the need for some inspiration and if a Black Jersey doesn't do it...
Maybe Gilbert Enoka has lost his edge? Or maybe it is just the coaching / leadership. There are some technical issues / stategy as well as the headspace, but it is quite a fix to get back to where we were 3 or 4 years ago.

Henry doesn't sound like he rates him - his comments at the Wairarapa Bush function suggested he really liked Rennie.
Ultimately, the panel can only look at who they put in front of them. Robertson's faults and potential weaknesses are still there - he's not coached outside NZ, only really coached in a well structured environment, and is still pretty young in his coaching career.
Don't get me wrong, I think he's a tremendous coach for Canterbury, but we don't know how he'd go at the top level. It would have been a risk to appoint him... although in hindsight a calculated risk.
I think the process has a lot to answer for. I'd have taken Rennie or Joseph over Foster -- but they weren't even interested in talking.

I doubt Enoka can address the mental gap if the players have misgivings regarding the coaching.

Again, hardly a glowing reflection on NZR's professionalism.
It looks to me that our golden period will have a commensurate balance as the pendulum swings back. Almost no one appears to have a decent resume to justify their current positions.

Yep. They would have to work as a "team". A concept that seems to have gone missing.

Maybe it’s because he has to deal with a head coach who has no clue that compromises Mcleods job.
