At least I tipped Wellington 17+ and Steamers for lowest scorer...
well i backed Wellington by 13+ at the tab, still feels dirty

Yep, the uncleanness of it all is slightly relieved by being right

Gee the Lions are bloody good watch ..., when you consider how many guns they had out..guys on debut ,sure they make a lot of mistakes , but much of it is high risk and reward , thought the final score was about right in terms of the difference between both these teams ..Kirifi Du Plessis was brilliant and Wes Goosen not to far hehind ..
I've seen more people getting confused by his name.
-
@Stargazer apologies ..lol

We're the better team and we're behind
That first 20-25 minutes was some of the better rugby I’ve seen BOP play for a while. Sure there were a few mistakes, but very solid set piece, good attack structure, making line breaks.
Not enough scoreboard pressure though.
-
@Steven-Harris It's his parents' fault. They gave him a last name as his first name.
-
@Stargazer he’s bloody energiser bunny at breakdown ..
-
@Steven-Harris He is close to becoming my favourite openside.
-
-
@Stargazer will take some beating as the individual try of the comp.
-
@Stargazer Throw not straight followed by forward pass.
-
@antipodean Nope and nope.
-
Coles will be back next week, Numia should start and Fidow might come back aswell from his head knock.
Wellington will need to improve because it will be even tougher at scrum time against the Cantabs.

NZ's Michael Hooper, even down to the mo
-
@Stockcar86 Eewww, don't compare him to the guy whose eyes are too close to each other!
-
Wellington might have the three fiestiest players in Nz rugby. Between Coles, Kirifi and Perenara they sure do get fired up.
-
@Canes4life That's not always a good thing though.
-
@Stargazer it isn’t. But can be a very good thing if they channel that passion towards the right areas.
-
@Canes4life esp when one of them is Captain
-
-
Fucking hell
Well done Wellington way too good
-
@taniwharugby to be fair they've all been captains at some point.
-
@Canes4life said in Wellington v BOP:
Kirifi reminds me of Masoe, shame he’s probably a little too small for test rugby.
I've always thought that too, but he definitely plays well above his size. He bumped off Carroll and co.

Kinda my point

@Stargazer said in Wellington v BOP:
Oh geez, Welly have a showpony. Don't overdo that Ruben.
Loved it. Great to see a number of talented youngsters so excited about wearing the Wellington jersey and winning.
-
Geez Kirifi is an absolute animal. He's that club openside we've all played with who is an outright gun and seems destined to never get higher honours eh. Probably smokes two packs a day.
A lot of young fellas really stepped up.. Proctor though looks like that kid who ran through everyone at school and thinks he still can.
Vella a man apart for BOP.
-
Tyrone Thompson is a serious talent. He's quick and strong. He needs to improve his throwing but this should come sooner or later.

I've been saying that for years.
-
@cgrant a one two punch of Aumua and Thompson for the Canes in the future will be pretty handy.
-
Think we missed Karpick at openside hope he back soon
-
Connor Garden Bachop won’t see any further game time this year sustaining what looks like a broken arm in the Lions Insta story.

I hope the Canes can keep Thompson. They have three already but one is now a bit injury prone. And one a bit limited but still a good backup
-
As a bit of comfort for Bay fans, the team that started the final last season had Wardlaw, Ainley, Franklin, Karpik, Matenga at 4-8 in the pack with Ross a starting prop, none of them played last night. Blake and Eklund are missing, Ravouvou, Narawa & Judd missing from the backline from last season and Black absent last night. This is a much changed team and they don't seem to have much fluency.

Nothing better than seeing a hooker sell a dummy and beat a few tackles to dot down after a 60m run

Fuatai gets what he deserves
Ironically we know more about his availability through illegal play this than anything that comes from the Steamers camp on ongoing injuries an availability in general.
-
From that same article:
Bay of Plenty could also find themselves without prop Jordan Lay against Auckland this week.
He was cited for dangerous play in a ruck during the loss to Wellington and will face a judicial hearing this week.
-
So the Welly tight 5 was about how expected - horrible at set pieces.
But once I saw the sate of the BOP winger I knew there was no way we were going to lose. -
