“They were giving me the name tag of ‘The Food Bill’ there for a wee while, because I didn’t play, and was just collecting all the kit.
Wasnt Ranby the one that phrase was coined for?
Jeez what a tough run, great he still has that desire though!!
-
@taniwharugby I honestly can't remember who that phrase started with. There has been a long list over the years.

It was at least Robin Brooke before that when he was injured 1994/1995ish.
-
@nepia at that point he wouldnt have been a 'foodbill' though was he, not being 'officially' paid and all.

Well obviously I didn't read any of the posts above so have no context for the discussion.
I think it was a tour to the NH when he maybe played half a game but stayed on tour (could be 100% wrong on that I just remember Zinny calling him that).
-
@nepia I'll take your word on it
-
ALB likely to have to be rested against the Tahs.
-
He's had a heavy workload, but the thought of running out a backline with no DMac or ALB in Sydney doesn't sound like much fun...

we can't make the final. we can't come last. we're playing our 4th game in Australia. Who actually cares? get some experience in to the kids.

Be nice to keep the Waratahs losing streak going though.

I think/hope we can get away with Tupaea and Nankivell.
I think Sullivan is also officially a midfielder if we want to go crazy ( @Bovidae is that right)
The biggest thing is getting the bench right - we dont want Tupaea finishing the game on the wing.
Up front, I really hope they sent over Moli, Ah Kuoi and Finau or none of it will matter...

I’m going to the game so I care.
Play ALB, he can rest next week 😉

@nepia Did you go to Leichhardt Oval?
Nope, annoyingly had something on at the time as both the time and getting to venue is much nicer than this weeks game at Brookvale.

This should be on the hawt thread

Is sowakula leaving?, I saw an article that he had resigned for next year but there is some rumours that he could be leaving and judging by one of his Instagram posts it could be true
-
But tough on Roe, thought he ended up being pretty good. No memory of even seeing Poihipi on the park!
-
@stargazer fair enough we will need the depth

Yeah, Poihipi's first and only start was for the Chiefs B team against the Blues. He had been a reserve in one match prior to that.
As I said above, Finau had the most impact from the rookies across SRA. Perhaps they didn't want to choose a WTG player. So Roe then.

Got some oil yesterday that Lachlan Boshier is heading offshore after the Bunnings NPC..,no real surprise I guess given that’s he’s had no love from the All Black coaches ..
Also Jordie Barrett is a possible Chiefs signing for 2022. -

Also Jordie Barrett is a possible Chiefs signing for 2022.The first one there was assumed already, the second seems odd. I don't see the upside unless those that follow the gossip columns/ instagram know something?
Rugby wise the Chiefs have a pile of 10s/15s unless DMac at 10 is the future. Maybe JB has been promised a crack in the centres alongside ALB? If that worked it could be hi way out of the back three puzzle in the ABs. -
@crucial the great thing about doing some stuff in the media is relationships you have made along the way .., I have 2 or 3 sources whom I keep close to my chest even they don’t know about this site..only relaying what has been handed on , get the odd thing wrong but in most cases the info passed on is close to the mark .
-
@steven-harris well that's interesting. Unsure how I feel about that. But it makes sense as Taranaki are the heart of Chiefs country.

-
Jordie seems to prefer 1 year deals, wherever he plays.
DMac is off-contract so that should be the priority.

-
Okay well I denounce my claim. Waikato is the heart of Chiefs country now.
-
@machpants
If Boshier is off,I really hope it's a year or 2 in Japan. Damn shame if he is gone for good. -
@machpants ..you win some you lose some , on saying that you would be naive to think that his agent was negotiating with another franchise..

I personally appreciate it when you guys share some of the stuff you’ve heard, whether it turns out or not, because it gives us a peek into the ‘real’ world that you guys negotiate - and something for us to talk (bitch) about.
-
@gt12 much of my information comes through coaches that are close to the scene or fathers of players and in some cases the coaches themselves or in the case of Jordie Barrett a tip someone in the media who mentioned to me that Jordies agent was negotiating with a couple of franchises which happened to be both the Chiefs and the Canes but more likely the Chiefs ..aaahhh wrong ..!..Anyway I reckon this forum is the best place for getting potential player movements ..
There are some stories I actually sit on out of respect to the individual or the team , some of it not good . -

There are some stories I actually sit on out of respect to the individual or the team , some of it not good .i for one am happy we didn't sign Jordie as it would be very hard to walk back from years of posting to praise him running around in the Chiefs jersey next year.
