So Adesanya pretty much just picked Tavares into tiny pieces.
Looked much better than his last time out. Not exactly convinced that he has the knock out power to worry top ten guys but against a conventional striker who stands in front of him he looks the goods. A good wrestler will trouble him but that being said, his TD and clinch defence were very good in this one. Even showed a little bit of skill on the ground.
His ability to effectively set the pace is interesting and a little frustrating. I would have loved to see him light Tavares up when he had him hurt but he just dropped straight back into his rhthym. On the other hand he clearly new how he wanted the fight to progress so kudos for being able to keep to the plan.
Pretty damn impressive.
Spot on.
Devloping his all round skills 'on the job' against a Top 10 veteran and coming away with the emphatic decision was very impressive.
Much like Till, the swagger will get you noticed and higher ranking opponents, but as you climb the ladder the skills will do the talking.
Good card. Good Ultimate Fighter Series and deserved winners on the night.

Had 10 of my closest jiu-jitsu friends around for beer and fights today. Top moments from UFC 226:
DC KOs Stipe. Fantastic. Feel great for the guy after all the bullshit with Jones and PEDs etc
Insta-promo with Brock Lesnar. DC calls out Lesnar, Lesnar pushes him, calls everyone a piece of shit. A lot of people hate the WWE style theatrics in MMA but I love the hype as long as it end in a real fight. DC set the scene for Lesnar and Lesnar knew what to do. So much fun.
Dan Hooker by KO. He’s a goddam ninja
Dan Hooker bitches out the UFC matchmakers “you’re getting these boys hurt, gimme someone on my level”
No one bothers to interview either fighter after Ngannou and Lewis. If you want to serve up that shit then just fuck right off.

Hooker was fantastic. Nails. Deserves a tough Top 10 fight
Millender worked out Griffen, who was disappointing
Klose was cool and collected
Assuncao too strong. Good fight.
Jabbing Masterclass from Hall, but Costa lit him up. Great fight
Wow Rountree Jr. Dynamite
Chiesa's a mongrel, but skillful. Great win for Pettis. So good off his back.
Felder v Perry was a Classic. Granite v Nails. Great refereeing. Loved it. Almost needs a rematch. Perry humble because he knew he'd been in a war
Shithouse. Trying to forget it already. The mystique of Ngannou gone.
Big John will always be No. 1 but Goddard is my favourite ref at the moment
Holy Fuck DC -
@duluth
That first knockdown was something else. Even after watching it a few times I’m strughling to process it. His counter landed almost as soon as the other guy even thought about the overhand right.Totally agree. I listened to an interview with Hooker after and he said the guy must have been dehydrated from the weight cut because those shots shouldn't have been knocking him down.

Holy shit see old mate win that fight from his back with the hammer fists? Brutal

Wow! Who was that?
Niko Price. Great finish.
Trapped the head in the crook of his ankle, foot, calf then slammed him. -
Volkanovski showed he was legit on debut, with a unanimous decision over 10th ranked Elkins.

Yeah. Maybe the second.
Creative finish though as Price was getting roughed up prior to this

Old news now, but another kiwi got a UFC contract last week - Kai Kara France
The timing suggests Adesanya and Hooker's recent form helped get this over the line.
125 division has been a bit dull because DJ has been too good (I hope Cejudo changes that). At least kiwis have a reason to follow this division more.

SWANSON v MOICANO
Moicano too long for Swanson and makes quick work for the submission finishI watched the main card and really enjoyed it. Had a bit of everything. The Johnson v Cejudo was a bit of a masterclass, technically while I was just on the edge of my seat for the entire Dillashaw v Garbrandt fight because it just seemed like anything could happen. All the main undercard fights had something unique to offer too.
One note on the Swanson v Moicano fight... I don't think I've ever seen that sort of impact from a jab before?

Yes it was amazing.
Maybe Arlovski v Sylvia 2, when Arlovski jabbed Sylvia half way across the ring
