Strickland is telling everyone he won and is now blaming a headbutt for the loss. Zzzzzz
He should blame his passivity in the middle of the fight. DDP was taking plenty of risks closing the distance and was getting caught plenty but Strickland was happy to back off. That also made the takedowns easier
It seemed the tactic was to rely on DDP running out of gas. Someone in his corner needed to let him know the score was possibly 2-1 DDP at the end of the 3rd. If he pulled the trigger in round 4 instead of 5 he would've won. So much quicker and accurate on the feet
I thought this fight would've been lot more interesting
So I suspect Izzy v DDP at 300. Meanwhile I think Strickland will try and avoid fighting, keep complaining and try to keep his name in the media for the winner of that fight. I doubt he'd want to risk a fight with Khamzat for no1 contender

DDP got 2, 3, 4 IMO. Strickland dominant in the first round and did well to come back and get the last round
I expect to see Adesanya v DDP at 300
Amazing comeback from Magny
Tough night for the Canadians
Going completely from memory I think Strickland got the first two rounds didn’t he ?
This was a tough one in one sense as I am a fan of both of them.
DDP may struggle against Izzy due to his reach but then according to the stats his ( DDP ) reach is 75 inches ? He is virtually identical to Strickland in size but looked so much smaller and more compact due to their difference in stances to a casual observer.

Round 2 is the round that decided the fight. 1 & 5 clear for Strickland, 3 & 4 for DDP. Round 2 was very close
I had round two for DDP. All three judges gave him the round too
Yeah fair enough, wasn’t sure if the takedowns were convincing ( plus the internet shat itself and I missed a few bits )
If Strickland won I wouldn’t have been surprised though, one judge thought this too.

Yeah his wild technique plays into Adesanya's counter striking style too. But who knows? We don't know if the the last shitty Izzy fight was a one off or the start of a slide?
He was way off the pace in that fight and there were stories coming out of the camp about him getting dominated by Jousset (a WW with a couple of UFC fights).

I'm with Dana
DDP didn't do enough to take it away for me. Strickland was bloodied, but DDP was bruised.
Strickland will kick himself for coasting, hoping DDP would gas.
Great comebacks for Magny and Flick
Thought the disruption threw momentum Evloev's way.

Strickland got out each time without much more than a glorified hug with a reach-around.. typical nothing more than a Piet van Zyl effort from DDP in those take downs
no..I wouldn't say it to his face

That was my view too. Knew it was close but just didnt think DDP had done quite enough. Turns out he had!

I get the sentiment when looking at the fight overall but it's scored round by round. Stricklands corner should've been more urgent and let him now he was digging a hole for himself on the scoreboard
I thought he did a similar thing vs Cannonier too. He mistakes being relatively comfortable in a round with doing enough to win the round. He had enough in him to beat Cannonier and let too many rounds drift

Could easily have gone in ‘Awesome’ but if you don’t know of him it doesn’t resonate

Justin out, Junior in
Only a day out from the biggest fight of his career, against No 15-ranked Marcos Rogerio de Lima at UFC 298 in California, the Kiwi heavyweight was forced to withdraw due to a knee injury. Though Tafa will be disappointed, it has provided his younger brother, Junior, the opportunity to become a legend in the eyes of UFC fans. Junior, also a UFC heavyweight, has stepped in for his brother, signing his fight contract on Saturday morning (NZ time) a little more than an hour before getting on the scales to make the fight official.

Good card
Volk got caught after being slightly in front over two rounds. All the talk for the next fight is going to be about his chin.. two big knockouts in a row
Whittaker extremely quick and Costa, despite losing, looked as good as he ever has
Garry in control throughout. Not sure how one judge gave it to Neal
Dvalishvili will be champ soon. The 135lb division is so good at the moment

UFC 299
From the bottom
Great last round from Joanne Wood on which to end her career
Big Boy looked destructive. Will be interesting to see how he progresses
Pereira fight was a great watch, and great finish
Great comeback from Blaydes. He’s still in the mix
Huge comeback from Della Maddelena in his toughest fight to date
Page too good for Holland, but will have to improve to go deep in this division
Dustin is a beast. Benoit too. Great fight.
Suga put on a masterclass
Hope he gets the Topoura fight
