Tuivasa had a pretty good fight but Gane was awesome. Took some risks to get the finish, not the usual Gane fight.

Whittaker way too good for Vettori

    The French debut went well

    Late to the thread……

Gane is huge, conditioned, powerful yet cautious. Kind of like a latter day Lennox Lewis.

The punch he caught from Tuivasa looked pretty innocuous to the naked eye but apparently it was a genuine knockdown. He went to town on him after that though, completely outclassed.

I can’t wait for a ( hopeful ) rematch between him and Ngannou.

That should have been Fight / Performance of the Night for sure

As much as he’s a knob, Chimaev was awesome

And Diaz finished two careers this evening

What do they do with him now? Surely he should only be considered a middleweight now?

There's an argument for putting him up against Whittaker right now. I think I fight vs Costa would be fun though

Make him go through Costa and then Whittaker to get a title shot

I think he'd beat Costa and lose to Whittaker (especially if it's a 5 rounder)

    It's a tough one

Misses weight on a Championship fight = disaster

Realistically only Covington and Usman can cope with his ground skills at Welterweight

At Middleweight, only Pereira, Whitaker and Adesanya can cope with all round game

If I was Chimaev, I would knuckle down and get the Welterweight crown

Then move up to attempt Champ Champ status

    He's that good

Kinda late on the bandwagon with UFC but shit it’s entertaining. Have caught the last few PPVs and am hooked. Sunday avo is a great time to have a few beers with the old man and ex wife’s hubby ( yes this combo works, always great fun ) and watch it.

The hype leading up to it is great ( I love how Joe Rogan looks like some drunk uncle at a wedding in his suit ) and it’s just bam bam bam…..fight after fight. With everyone’s contrasting strengths and weaknesses it’s easy to see how a striker might beat a grappler….some guys have much better ground games etc…..and the ruthlessness after a knockdown is brutal. Some of those guys are tough as fuck.

Loads of fighters have impressed me, I’m pretty old school though, it’s the heavyweights who really excite me overall. Ngannou vs Gane will be a terrific rematch. Sergei Pavloviches demolition job on Derrick Lewis was amazing too. Apparently he has an 84 inch reach ! Holy shit ! ( For comparison Joseph Parker’s is 76 inches despite being a bit taller )

I have high hopes for Aspinall. I can see him and Gane having a series of great fights.

Hopefully Jon Jones gets added to the HW mix too.. then suddenly there's plenty of fun fights in this division

Yan robbed very bad imo. Must be hating the ufc. I had Yan all 3 rounds. Maybe O'Malley in the third.

    I thought Yan won 2 & 3. Round 1 50/50

O’Malley was muted in his celebrations

It was all going so well 🙂

6 out of 8 guesses right them Dariush started the rot

Great win from a tough as teak fighter

Yan was robbed as all above have stated

Felt for Dillashaw, but Alj looked the best I've seen him. Was just a matter of time, shoulder pop or not

    And Oliveira beaten comprehensively

Mak v Volk could be a fight for the ages

@MiketheSnow hope I'm wrong but just don't see how Volk gets up vs Islam.

Well be interesting to see what he looks like with 6 more kgs in him

Yeah it seems unlikely. Maybe he catches him with something early

Looking forward to seeing what plan Bareman & Lopez have for this fight

    I don't know

Mak didn't look that much bigger than him in the post-fight chat

Four kiwis on the card at Madison Square Garden this weekend.

This ESPN interview is pretty good.. everyone is relaxed.

From other interviews it sounds like there was plenty of friction in this camp early on. Bareman cracked the whip about a few things. Hard to know what the specifics were but it sounds like he wasn't happy with some outside distractions.. also he criticised Hooker directly in public "The person who listen the least at the gym" etc

The storyline in the main event is obviously that Pereira has beaten Adesanya twice at kickboxing.

Mentally that's huge for Pereira but the fights weren't bad for Adesanya. Both fights are on youtube:

    Fight 1 - 2016-04-02

Pretty even contest. Personally I think Izzy edged it.. not a robbery, just a close decision I disagree with

    Fight 2 - 2017-03-04

Adesanya was having a lot of success with his right hand. Pereira needed a standing 8 count. Next round Pereira lands a clean shot and it's all over

I'm sure Pereira has improved since then but the difference in Izzy is huge. There's hardly any feints compared to the way he fights now. Also he seemed to react a lot more to getting hit.. Pereira would land something and Izzy would try to throw the same technique back at him. A bit sloppy after the comfy 'King in the Ring' fights?

This should be a fun fight. Some of Adesanya's title fights have been a bit dull because the opponent wasn't aggressive enough and/or didn't have the technique to get close enough. That won't be an issue for Pereira

Will be on edge watching this one. No matter how well Adesanya is doing Pereira has more than enough skill & power to end this with one shot
