@Bones If you want to waste as much time on it as I just have, be my guest.
I've already looked at it (via Sky on demand). Image by image. No clear evidence of a punch at all. While standing up, they hold each other's jerseys. That already started when they were still sitting on ground. You can even see Jordie sitting on the ground, looking and gesturing at the ref and when the ref doesn't respond, he starts hitting Strange's hand with a flat hand, to make him let go of his jersey. Then, you can't see them standing up, because at that stage the camera is focused on the coaches, but it's almost as if Strange never let go of Jordie's jersey.
When the camera goes back to the little scuffle, Strange's right hand (still) has hold of Jordie's jersey at the same left shoulder, near the collar. Jordie's left hand has Strange's jersey near the right shoulder. At the beginning of that piece of footage, Jordie has his right hand in front of his face, which almost suggests that at that point there had already been contact with his nose. In what follows, Strange never has a closed fist, because he's still grabbing Jordie's jersey. Not a single moment in the footage you can see Strange let go of the jersey to strike Jordie in the face. During the pushing and shoving his hand - while holding the jersey - may have touched Jordie's face, but it can't have been a punch and it looked closer to his chin than his nose. In any case, it must have been accidental. Nothing worthy of a citing.

@Bones You're just trolling, but look at the footage if you don't believe me. Image by image. But we may have to take this to the proper thread.
I don't believe you and neither does Barrett's nose. I know they have maaaad skills but I'm pretty sure he doesn't have the ability to scrunch his nose up like that to avoid that fist landing on it.
It seems you're the one trolling.

Meanwhile, first five-eighth Aaron Cruden has been promoted to start in his 100th match for the franchise, with coach Warren Gatland admitting not using him off the bench in the 33-31 defeat to the Highlanders a fortnight back was to try and manipulate it so that the milestone match was on home turf.
We seem to be glossing over this point, but WTF? Why did you pick the bloke??!!
Are all the poor bastards who went to the game or put money on the Chiefs ok with this wonderful sentiment?

“If we were right up there at the top, you probably wouldn’t have taken it into consideration,” Gatland said of the sentimental call, with his team already out of the running for the title at the time.*

This really needs more arrows and some lines showing the angle of his nose during the punch compared to where it normally would have been.

@Bones Maybe this is the reason why there was no further sanction. I can't see whether his fist hits Strange's face, maybe it didn't, but Jordie wasn't quite so innoncent in that scuffle. Strange's punch came after Jordie's (attempted or successful) punch.

But the evidence that Gatland is a shithouse coach in a week in week out competition is so clear that it's sadly no surprise to read...

I wonder if the TAB is taking odds on which refereeing technicality Gatland will whinge about after our next defeat.
I imagine they want to stay in business.
