Highlanders v Blues

This means Blues have a winning record this year vs Chiefs, Canes and Highlanders.
A couple of years ago Blues would be happy with a single combined win against those teams!
-
Bloody good game, the refs are useless.

Consistent away wins is confusing

Yeah, unhappy to watch an AB milk a penalty with a Hollywood. Poor.

Very droll. We don’t want rugby to end up like soccer, so should have been play on when Smith pretended to trip.

Sheesh, settle down TJ, the Highlanders aren't going over the top at Gallipoli.
Hater
Yep. Dude used to be a good Reunion host but is tiresome when commentating Blues games - it would be like me commentating Crusaders games.
I still don't get the TJ blues thing. I don't see it at all. I feel like it maybe used to happen and now it's just true because it's repeated so often...
Hear it, hear it man.
Yeah but hear what?
Pitch, tone, squealing when the opposition to the Blues do something slightly good , etc etc.
You mean exactly what he does when the blues do something slightly good?
He's much less effusive for the Blues, fair enough if you don't notice it, lots of the rest of us do ... I notice it in Chiefs games.

The worst bit is it was play on and wouldn't have been a penalty. It's only because the Blues scored an intercept try and the crowd booed that it even became one.

Akira named MOTM.

Well then the blues shouldn't push so hard in scrums. Milking penalties like that, atrocious and unfair!
-
I would like to see the Blues make a play for Peter Umaga Jensen given the Canes have Billy Proctor locked up for another 3 years..would like to see another big midfielder in the mix..

Akira Ioane the deserving winner of MVP today.
He was awesome.

It's not the Blues fault that they're aren't good enough actors to make the Highlanders look at least semi competent at scrummaging
-
I know he's playing tight, but Akira's biggest work on is still link play.

Well the other teams have done a fairly good job at it. Obviously blues heavily influenced by Auckland cheating ways.

That's interesting, I hadn't noticed that lacking - but it used to pretty much be his forte shortly after switching from 7s.

@Bones Yeah, he was good early last year on it. Part of maturing as a player (and getting fitter overall) is balancing the roles. He's doing more cleanouts, so is getting to rucks early.
He's just so fucken scary strong and solid. Starting trio of him, Cane and Frizzel could really hurt some oppo.

That Reiko Clarke combo is starting to really look slick now though.
Injury cover would be good so we can rotate and cover when people go down.
That’s still the Blues weakness. Our top 22 can beat anyone, but the squad depth isn’t as good as the Crusaders still.

Oh hey, great to see Joane back. Forgot how bloody good he is.

Just his ability to create space and get the team moving forward is invaluable.
Lucky @Kiwiwomble wasn't around to see my posts about him in his first season though.
-
@Tim always makes me laugh how there is always one player who has to point toward the posts for someone when they are running in a try
-
Sio did very little other than a cheap shot, Walden next week? Saving him for the crusaders...smart
-
@Bones I’ll go back and have a look....

@Kiwiwomble saving him for his next super franchise more like.

Walden is Jesus.
In that it seems he never actually existed.

It's a pretty advanced concept. You can't expect every player to understand it so they have to help each other out.

When your goal kicker is beauden it really is important.

Ioane is the best number 8 in NZ with Sotutu out. Big game today. A bit more confidence on attack would be great.
Akira Ioane is a beast. Hope Foz manages him better than Hansen did.
That wasn't Hansen's fault.
Akira just wasn't up to standard, but now he looks as if he is getting there. -

Maybe it’s the Mandela effect 🤔

Has he? I never noticed him. It's just so strange that he doesn't even get any mention at all. There's got to be something going on, it seems it's too private to reveal though.

For the Landers forwards - Parkinson had a huge game with Frizzel and Dixon not far behind. Hunt was tireless (until he got tired and went off).

That's almost Springbok-like for backrow physicality
