He's pretty rocks/diamonds, but his boot has been really under appreciated. He has scored or created a number of great tries for us and with his kicking has helped get us out of trouble on occasion. He's a bit of poor man's James Lowe, but that still makes him better than the other options.

Yeah as opposed to Wainui who is just shit eh?
Apart from the many, many more good plays he's been part of. Stevenson reminds me of a 15s version of Ambrose Curtis.

@gt12 As I have mentioned earlier, Wainui seems to be their preferred winger (in 11 or 14). He's safe, and a good defender, but not a game-breaker. A puzzling selection.
Wainui is excellent. Really unappreciated by chiefs fans. Stevenson does about one good thing a game and then spends the rest of his time trying to look cool.
He wasn't always though and I guess it's taken a while for that stigma to lift - plus he still looks like a centre on the wing unlike Stevenson, who is really under-appreciated bb Bones.
I'd actually like to see Wainui get some midfield time.
He did end up at centre in the Canes game.
Wainui doesn't really have the top-end speed of a winger, but has played well this year. My comment was more about expecting a little more rotation on the wing but he has been the one constant.

That's another myth often brought up as a negative. Got anything to back it up? I've seen him on plenty of breaks, chases and pace has certainly not been an issue.

My eyes at the games relative to other players. Wainui is not a winger who will run around a defender, or beat them on the outside. I am more than happy to be proved wrong tomorrow.

That's really just a straight run to the line after being put into space by ALB. I've also seen Wainui caught from behind with the tryline in front of him.
All I'm saying is that he is a converted centre, so doesn't have the speed of a specialist winger.

Wainui threatens the defence almost every time he gets it. I like his game and right now is the only Chiefs back that looks dangerous.

That doesn’t happen anywhere near as much as you make out.
When it has (I remember once) it was because play had got very messy and it was a good decision to buy time for others to get reorganised and reset with one eye on opportunity. It looks worse than it is and isn’t necessarily headlessUtterly disagree. He's a panic merchant who puts his teammates under pressure and since he's come back from his knee injury hasn't displayed the upside to his game that got him into the All Blacks.
