There are implications for this game too now, so it will need to be rescheduled.
Just cancel it and get ready for an awesome Mitre 10 Cup.

yeah, game can go ahead but no training for those in AKL

This article is mainly about North v South, but also some paragraphs about Farah Palmer Cup, Mitre 10 Cup, SR(A) 2021.

Hinton and Knowler pick their NI and SI XVs. Marc should be ineligible to be a NI selector as a Otagoite.
-
Newshub says that as well as the moving this game to Wellington the other option for NZR is to delay the game by 1 or 2 weeks. I guess we find out within the week, or tomorrow if the squads are named as originally intended.

I would've thought not knowing anything about rugby would rule him ineligible.

NZR General Manager Professional Rugby & Performance Chris Lendrum said NZR was still hoping that the eagerly-anticipated match could be played at Eden Park, Auckland, on Saturday August 29, but was also making contingency plans to play the match at SKY Stadium in Wellington instead on the same day.
The squads for the Steinlager North v South match will be announced at midday tomorrow and were due to assemble in Auckland on Monday next week.
"With Auckland at Alert Level 3 until midnight on Wednesday 26 August, the squads will now assemble in Wellington to prepare for the match.
"New Zealand Rugby is currently working through the Government's normal exemption process to seek approval for the Auckland-based players and management to assemble in Wellington from next Monday.
"A final decision on the venue for the match will be made following the Government's review of Covid-19 levels on Friday," Lendrum said. -
Sooo...we all good with exemptions now? 😙

Locks are interesting, if we think they are the base for the ABs, and no Coles (injured?)
-
Some surprises in the locks. Who was picking Tupou Vaa’i and Manaaki Selby-Rickit?

It's up on the All Black website.

Foster said the selectors were delighted to name the North and South squads today. “This is a chance for these players to be part of something really special. It’s a once-in-a-generation match for them and players who have previously taken part in these matches have talked about how unique and memorable it was. Now these two teams get to write their own history and stories around this match. “The match will bring out the best in everyone and I’m sure there will be parochial rivalry in spades. It’s a special game because it celebrates where the players made their provincial debuts and, for some, where they really took those first steps in their professional careers,” Foster said. “The players have worked really hard and played some outstanding rugby in Investec Super Rugby Aotearoa, and we’re excited at the breadth of talent up and down the country. There is a huge amount of talent here and it will be a wonderful celebration of rugby for our fans.” Samuel Whitelock has been named as captain of the South team and Patrick Tuipulotu captain of the North. “Sam and Patrick are two special players who have had outstanding seasons. They will lead their sides with their own flavour as captains and are both proven and experienced leaders,” Foster said.

@Yeetyaah missed that

You can also see who the AB selectors want to look at, even if they have had minimal playing time in SRA. TTT, for example.
A number of players were unavailable for selection due to injury, including 2019 All Blacks Dane Coles, Scott Barrett, Sam Cane and Ngani Laumape.
I'd like to see a full list as the likes of Robinson, Jacobson and Grace aren't selected either.
-
TTT can consider himself bloody lucky, has he played all year?

only 1 first five for north, no mikaele-tu'u ? these aren't the best teams in the world in terms of current form than what we thought
-
Sio for the south...he'll never play but surprised at being named
-
@NateHill74 yeah, MMT is pretty unlucky, Hunt can play first five and has finally found some form

Highlanders.
He's a victim of the format - he'd walk into the South squad and would likely feature in a Possibles-Probables situation.
-
@KiwiMurph considering those stats that came out yesterday and he featured in almost every category
-
Interesting to see Rieko selected as a midfielder. Foster was pretty adamant earlier in the year he saw Rieko as a winger. Rieko's form might have changed his thinking.
-
Or Goodhue’s or ALB’s!
