The 3rd hooker is still a huge problem as neither can throw to save themselves.

I think Jordan makes the ABs ahead of Reece and Sotutu ahead of Aioane.

@sparky I'd have him over Reece.

@sparky Why? His defence is poor on the wing and Barrett is a better fullback.

Wil Jordan must be a starting AB.

He didn't play that well today, IMO. He hasn't looked in a starting spot for me.

Tops all the relevant stats in Aotearoa rugby and wins the battle of the islands.
Jordan might be a smokey for the AB's tomorrow?

Lots of love for A Smith on here tonight. This is a bit controversial, but I thought he was average. Sure, a class above TJ, but hardly impressive. Indecisive, sloppy, lots of telling but not much actual engagement.

Obviously our #1 HB and has had an amazing season, but tonight? Not so much.

One catch and try, an all black does not make. I only watched the second half, but that was it from him. As to Clark, his throw randomly in field cost the North the game. So neither test match ready

Highlanders players fucked it up for the North in the final 5.

@Machpants Might be Rieko on the wing this year. Don't like any of our 12 options.

Seems trendy to play 13s at 12 this year

Also, Moody seems to have inherited the invisibility cloak at the breakdown. He never gets penalised for entering from the side and going off his feet.

@junior plus he missed the initial effort. That's bad considering Saves was penalised for the same thing earlier in the half

Some really great tries scored tonight. Shame that Ash Dixon saved his worst game for the North. Ioane was good (he and McKenzie worked well together), Will Jordan will probably be an AB sooner rather than later, Caleb Clarke also. Whitelock was the better captain.

Few current ABs that really went MIA though.

@antipodean clearly it's not a a matter of understanding the law. Your link to the laws governing a maul does not back up your case. Because the only things in this instance that you can claim to being in place for the maul to continue. Is point 13 & 13 of the laws. Defending players internationally leaving the maul. Neither happened. So like the ref, my interpretation is the maul is over the moment the attacking team broke off.

That wasn't the ref's interpretation - he penalised them for Laulala's actions.

I'm uninterested in explaining this to you any further.

Was great to see Hoskins step up at this higher level. A few north towards did themselves no favours. Ardie & Patty we're average as. Aioane was real disappointing. Seems to have so much potential but can't find it consistently. Worst loosie on the park tonight.

@antipodean True. Just look at what he and his captaincy ability brought to the Chiefs this year.

So by the same measure Whitelock isn't a good captain, he's just surrounded by better players.
