digging up an old thread.
Sport!
But, Australia visits for (groan) 5 T20. FFS. ODI are far superior. Still, given I feel sport starved right now, I'll take anything at all.
Will also make a real effort to get out to the White Ferns as well
It's Australia's turn to host the Blackcaps in the Chappell-Hadlee this summer. Hence NZC hosts a T20 series.

For you that’s really good.
Stop trying to play it cool, you love all my work

... and thumped yesterday. Well played Australia, it's what playing NZ in Rugby must feel like - so hard to beat, and a production line of quality players.
In other news, SA Cricket has corruption. I'm astonished, genuinely astonished, that someone who tried to ban journalists from attending cricket grounds may be up to no good.

Exactly - hoping that the few world class players that NZ has can produce the big performance to snatch a win. And Australia without Ellyse Perry who is probably the best player in the world and who also played international football.

Another NZ cricket legend has died. RIP.

@Chris-B And suffered a bit trying to carry a team when he had to bat, bowl, captain with very few outstanding individuals around him (bar Sutcliffe). Some of the stories of his hitting power show he would have been well suited to the demands of the modern game.

I hear this guy was pretty good in the day.
Carried the whole team at times. Not for nothing was he chosen to lead the World XI.
Way up there with Hadlee, Crowe, Kane Williamson etc and would have walked into any Test team of his era. Arguably the best all-rounder NZ have had as he was a captain in Fleming's class.

Different eras and I know Chris Cairns is derided on here but I’d pick him over Reid any day of the week personally

Gotta agree. Cairns was a rare talent and you wonder what he could have achieved if he'd been managed properly in his early career.
But Reid was an world-class captain as well as a world-class all-rounder for nearly 2 decades. Both would be in my team.

Usually December before we have this chat but here goes....
Cairns walks in for me. His test career was brilliant and there was no allegations of cheating for that. Kiwis bash him for whatever he did in IPL and it is a shame he did that.
But his test career was brilliant, one of our very best.
With Reid I just don’t get the same wow factor, different eras etc, probably similar batsmen but look how many wickets Cairns snagged over a similar amount of tests
Reid doesn’t compare in the slightest to Sobers or Miller in the echelons of old time all rounders.
Cairns on the other hand has pretty similar overall stats to Beefy and Kapil. Sub 30 bowling and over 30 batting indicates a top quality player.
