The Canes desperately need a good 10. Taylor would be good. No one clearly steering the ship.
TJP should be demoted. Not a captain.
I wouldn't say the limiting factor was Bachop. Not much you can do when your forwards can't secure ball.
Agree strongly with the second point.

@mariner4life Yeah, Telea was heavily marked but did a lot with the ball he got, often under pressure. Nice work in TJ's try.
-
Credit to both teams. I wasn't just pleased to see rugby again - it was a high skill game considering the rule application amendments and time off.

Same last night. This comp is going to be close

Really weird that once they knew Barrett was off to the Blues, the Canes board didn't move heaven and earth last year to sign a decent First Five. Aidan Morgan (19) could eventually prove a shrewd signing but won't realistically be involved this year.

Coles being a cock to BB
That was funny. Haha.
Mrs Boo called it "cute"

Someone get this clown of a ref off the field. Where's Van Zyl when you need him?
Speaking as a Chief's fan with a leaning towards the Blues because it's better for NZ rugby for the Blues to become popular again I felt he lent towards the Canes.
Thoughts?

What's new? Blues fans already complaining about the ref.
Deservedly

I thought he was very biased against the Blues in the first half missing obvious infringements by the Canes. Come the second half it evened up somewhat and become apparent he was simply penalising the defending team and largely ignoring the offside. Re; the last point he was either unsupported by or ignored his assistants. A stark contrast to the previous night.
Ultimately he wasn't too bad because I don't feel he influenced the outcome and I guess that's all we can ask for in a game where so much happens at once.
-
I think the major difference was how dangerous the Blues looked with the ball in hand. With the new interpretations you are going to struggle to retain the ball for long periods of time. We just weren't good enough to manipulate an overlap. Many times Reiko Ioane created one from a two on two situation and put the winger away.
Lineout must improve for the Crusaders as well.

It kept the game closer than it deserved to be. Luckily, the Blues team didn’t panic and took the ref out of the game.
I’m not against the new rules, they just need to be applied for both teams.

I’m biased , but as far as enjoyable rugby to watch goes ,
It’s hard to beat two Nz teams playing like that, With that spirit to attack
I know the Aussies , frogs and welsh have had their moments, but no one does it consistently like us
-
Really enjoyed that.
The game got a little messy in the last 20 but the first 60 was brilliant.
Sotutu, Clarke, Black and Otere were sensational.
Canes I think need to make some personnel changes. Their attack just didn't get going aside from that great try to Coles.
-
Rugby was the winner.
Well coached Blues side 😎

Great, well-deserved win for the Blues.
Black, Sotutu and Clarke very good; BB well-contained, Telea invisible.
Look I realize his emergence threatens the AB spots of Saders Bridge and Reece, but you've really got to make your bias more subtle. It's too obvious.

That was a great game to watch as a neutral. I ventured over to Manly to watch with my mate and had a huge feed of meat and kumara (and other veggies), watched the game, he’s a Canes fan but still thought it was a good game of rugby to watch, had a zoom catch up with some other friends. All and all a good afternoon of food and watching the footy.
Those Auckland backs look sharp, Clarke was on fire. Black had one of his better Super matches. Not sure what happened to the Canes after half time, they were right in It until then. Hopefully the penalty fest settles down next week.
Sent a group text of a pic of BB in his blues gear from the tv to a bunch of Canes fans ... As expected got a lot of abuse in return.
Too quote Ice Cube - today was a good day.

@mariner4life Co-captain with Coles.
Looked like Evans took over the captaincy when Coles went off?
