Indeed. My snooze has 10 minutes not 17 years. Nice if it did though.

The Australian newspaper reporting a trans Ta$man comp in 2022 with 5 each from Aus & NZ.
Potentially with a Japanese team and a Pacific team to make a Super 12.
Hope not. Second rate Aussie teams bore me. NZ should stick with 5 NZ teams as their main competition. And Aust likewise

Financially it's not sustainable for either.

@Snowy Why not try and think of ways of improving the competition outside of forcing Aus to 'cut' teams - which i said from the beginning was never going to happen? or just moan a bunch, i guess.
oh, well, because YOU said it, i guess we better go along with it then

Look at an end goal. A genuinely competitive competition.
You are moaning just as much about having teams cut - so you can cut out those bullshit comments.
So what are your suggestions for making ALL of the Aus teams competitive?
-
@mariner4life I was merely pointing out that it was never going to happen. I wasn't saying that it shouldnt happen because i think so.
IMO the only way to bring them up to speed is with patient investment at the base over many years. Likely decades. You could probably make them a little more immediately competitive by investing in player recruitment (i.e. tap Twiggy money) but i don't think a quick fix will have lasting effects.
-
@Snowy i actually think thats the issue, nz rugby might at least be able to claim trying to achieve a genuinely competitive comp as the goal...but i dont think thats the end goal for RA, they was to grown/spread the sport and they believe more teams will achieve that

so you mean the exact opposite of the ARU MO?
-
@mariner4life Yeah, basically.
