@Kirwan Uhm, they played well enough, but definitely weren't awesome. Awesome to get the win though.
Early days, but they seemed to be a bit more composed at key points in the game compared to last year

That scrum turnover on their own line under pressure was huge. In past years we would have screwed the pooch there.

Don’t be a misery guts
Well his Crusaders did lose...
Be nice That result puts the Blues result against the Chiefs in context too, they might be the team to beat this year.

Blues should've put away that team by 30 or 40. Accuracy was lacking and 10 play was poor.
Refereeing of the scrum was appalling. Should've been many more penalties to the Blues there.
Scoring 32 in poor conditions is not a bad result. Sometimes we just need to enjoy what we got.

Tahs will be lucky to beat the Highlanders.

Strange feeling after that. Not used to us winning after being fairly poor for large parts of the game, which says a lot about how bad the Waratahs really were.
The scrum and Mark Telea were the 2 big positives for me. 9 and 10 still remains a problem. Plummer was extremely poor when he came on, and our goal kicking is still horrendous.
Plenty to work on still going into the Crusaders game next week, especially coming off a loss.

@antipodean can't even see them troubling the canes.

There was no one there at all.
Super Rugby really is dead and buried.
Play in front of two half asleep men and a dog in Super Rugby or in front of a noisy crowd of 70,000+ in London, Paris or Cardiff?
Who can blame the players for heading to Europe?

But average premiership crowds are around the same, or lower, as super rugby, but they do have big peaks in some games and Heineken cup (as was)

To be fair though Newcastle is hardly a Rugby Union town, with the poor weather added to that. They barely get out to support their League side these days. Obviously Brookvale Oval was unavailable?
-
@African-Monkey I agree , why would you take it to a league stronghold..?,makes no sense..,Brookvale even thought it’s the home of Manly would have been a much better option ..at least it’s not far all the rugby heads to travel
-
@Duluth he is a solid super level 2, worthy of a spot in the Blues (particularly with all the young guys, by all accounts is a top bloke) issue is more if he is the main starting rake...but then that isn't his fault I guess.

Is Perofeta possibly the poorest 1st in any NZ franchise ..?, because if he can’t manage a team around the paddock or kick goals , what the hell does he do..?
Handsome lad. Wears the jersey well.
Important at this level.
