Tonight in the @NTA household
“Look honey, there’s a thread about us”
She comes over and they scroll down though the thread . Mrs NTAs smile goes from a smile to a scowl . She looks at him and leaves the room .A quiet weekend in the NTA house follows , NTA is unusually helpful and busy with chores he’s put off.
He could always catch up with Eamonn Holmes again.

Also, we are open to other suggestions for adding features (like what Duluth has built to promote stories from the forum to the main page, and the team areas coming soon).
I'm in, thanks guys.
Can we pay certain posters to stay away from the site and improve the experience for the rest of us?

Come on, you posted a link about fisting.
No it was about a fisting emoji being launched today. There might have been more detail in the article but I only read the headlines like everyone else here.
Lets face it the sharing this thread with Nicks family ship sailed hours ago.

Hahahahah. I was thinking the toad had been quiet, cheers to whoever sprung for that.

Don't you think the picture would have been much better if they were all holding the wads of money saved instead of bills like...

Looking trim too.
10-15kg overweight, but back at the gym. See how I go after heart surgery this year.
@NTA Have you covered the cost of the power wall with the savings? Or is more that you have reduced bills?
Not yet. About halfway through based on the estimates but the key thing is it has taken the operating cost out of the household electricity.
It is actually hard to calculate avoided cost in this scenario, because with retail electricity there are so many factors in the "change nothing" scenario e.g.:
- How much might my old retailer be charging now in a "do nothing" scenario?
- Would I still consume the same amount of electricity? This is important to understand, as I can see the household usage by the minute if I want with the system.
- At some point, what would I have changed/been forced to change in the household?would I have got solar anyway and not plunged into the battery? The payoff time would be shorter in Australia for just the solar system with the right retailer.
If you want to count the cents-per-kWh, and fuck knows there are a bunch of grumpy engineering type fluffybunnies lining up to do that, the cost of the battery would never be worth it. Every single one of those dickheads has a fucking answer on why I shouldn't have paid $1700/kWh installed.
Current Powerwall 2 is about the same entry cost but twice as good on most metrics, so is about $800-900/kWh depend who installs it and what else is being done at the same time.
But fuck 'em - I'm looking at a tiny annual power bill, its a sunk cost, and while I could have used the money for something else four years ago, I wouldn't be saving money now.
It is the most scrutinised device in the history of the fucking universe. I've had people tell me that "It isn't saving you money because you're getting less for solar export and you lose 8% on the round trip and pay this much for power" when they don't know my situation at all.
But you open their FB page (silly bastards don't understand even the limited version of "privacy) and there they are, celebrating the purchase of a $20,000 carbon fibre pushbikes.
Get. Fuct.

this bit...
When Sydneysider Nick Pfitzner agreed to be the first person in the world to have a Tesla Powerwall battery installed in his home
Was it free?
No. Fuck no. Dropped $16K up front. But fortunately my grandmother's estate had cleared a few weeks earlier so I only threw a couple of thou at it from my own pocket. Might not have done it otherwise, but figured it was the only Tesla I could ever afford, at the time.
Setup cost in NZ? Dunno. Probably closer to $20K but your tariffs, incentives etc are all different. Batteries are largely in the C&I space over there as networks look for frequency control, redundancy, and load smoothing. I spoke to these blokes a while back who were looking for opportunities with us - they had a nice setup with a few sites in the 'Rapa doing a form of energy proxy/trading.

My wife is fastidious. Particularly when the media come over. "What if somebody saw?!!"
Giving a shit about the opinion of strangers is one of her super powers.

Had the same thought, must be one heck of a game!!!
Super Smash Bros on the Nintendo Switch. I was getting my arse kicked by both my kids at the time, but had to smile for the camera.

Note: the actual amount I've been billed across the four years - which should be somewhere near $600 once summer's bill comes in this week, includes discounts for:
- referring other people ($140 in total)
- a 15 month period where I got a $50 / month discount for participating in some battery trials that the retailer and my smart controller company set up
I maintain that that customer referral is available to anyone, I'm going to ignore that and say 92c per day.
(It is worth noting that I still get the $50 a month - it just no longer appears on the bills, being paid to me directly instead).
