I don't think issue is men engaging in consensual sex with someone who was legally of age, the issue was that regardless of legals or morals, it just looks bad for a professional sports team to go to a high school and then have some of the team sleep with the students. I personally don't care, but obviously the sponsor believes it has caused reputational damage for the sponsor being associated with the club, and has moved on as a simple commercial decision.

Surprised they didn’t cancel the Warriors game given there was only one side that turned up to the ground....

I caught a snippet from the post match of the Panthers game. The players singing hugging and dancing and showering each other with drinks. If any of them have the virus they will all be sharing now.....

Apparently the Warriors are going to remain in Australia for the foreseeable future.

I can't see how the NRL and the soccer league can continue much longer

@canefan As I understand it, gatherings of more than 500 people aren't allowed anymore in Australia from Monday. I assume they can still play behind closed doors. For now.

@Stargazer Won't affect the Titans games then as they struggle to get even 500 through the turnstyles whether paying spectators or those on complementaries.

@Siam bringing league into disrepute, unless that's not on the misconduct list. Or the club doesn't renew their contracts/trades them because they have to retrench.

Latest news is that the Warriors might pull out of this years comp. Local league comps might get a boost.

@Godder I read the conduct breach was bringing them back to their hotel room. So probably not the biggest transgression in the book but a no no nonetheless.

@mikedogz really? If they do that they might find it hard to come back. They’re already unwanted.

What happened to the Kingscliff Warriors?

If they carried on got support from the NRL they could base themselves in Australia as long as it continues. Allow players to go on leave if they wish and recruit some aussie based players. The ones coming home can boost local league.

How long can the NRL continue right now? I will not be surprised if they pull the pin inside a week

For some reason they seem to really need the money. Going to the government for a bailout (apparently) and desperate to keep their league going. Surely worst case scenario is the players don't get their full salary but enough to get them through.

The NRL and the A league are flying in the face of almost every other league in the world. It must only be a matter of time before a player tests positive then they will get shut down. I'd expect they will play to empty stadiums this week

@canefan As of today, Round 2 will be played behind closed doors and then the NRL will reassess the situation.

That sounds like a soft exit to me, a-la the cricket
