Think it just highlights how difficult it is for teams to win away in Australia, New Zealand and India.
Especially when the home team wins the toss, cricinfo just put up an article highlighting this.We haven’t lost a test at home after winning the toss since 2009!! 10 wins, plus even when we lost the toss we still win more then we lose.
Yeah I posed the question earlier in the thread, when was the last time one of the big teams beat another big team away from home? Us getting smacked by the Aussies in between smacking England and India at home definitely reinforces that.
That said, we were fucking diabolical in Aus.
All that said - if/when the Aussies come here, I would be far from confident of beating them - even given our conditions - which probably aren't that dissimilar to places like Adelaide and Hobart. That we haven't beaten them in NZ in 30 years suggests we don't have any massive advantages at home.
In close to neutral conditions the Aussies are generally better than us 99 times out of 100
31 times out of 57!
Quite a few less, actually - because there's been not many played on neutral territory....
Neutral conditions not territory. They can beat us on quick decks, spinning decks, green decks. Man for man they are better than us, if your life was on the line and you had to pick a trans Ta$man 11 to play to save you, how many kiwis would you put in? But as a team we can hold our own
ahem, in late October we were putting together XIs that had a majority of kiwis in them. Heady times indeed...
What a difference a few months makes
replace Warner, Smith and Labooooooooshayne and then have that chat. We'd be competitive at least
We'd still have needed to roll the rest of them for under 200 given our batting... needed to remove Starc and co..
(or call up Hobart Hero Bracewell...)

Their bowlers are so good they can get their batsmen out of trouble in NZ and Australian conditions

Should be an open and shut case, but will convention over-ride common sense?
