AFL 2021

It had parallels to me with Darren Lehmann after Sandpapergate.
He saw the problem, and as a confident person he instantly thought he was the one who could fix it. But he was too close to it. It took time for it to sink in that as a part of the problem he couldn't be a part of the solution. He resigned a few days later.
I think we might see the same here, although Eddie is as stubborn as they come so who knows.

@barbarian Eddie's due to go at the end of the year anyway, i wonder if that will influence any decision?
-
@mariner4life The question is if anyone at Collingwood has the power or the stones to tell him he should go now. As President he must be almost impossible to overthrow, unless there is some mass uprising by the membership.

That would be an ugly sight.

I thought you meant metaphorically ugly, never nice seeing someone have to be kicked out and was going to comment its probably needed...and then it clicked

Eddie vows to stick around for the remainder of the year and drive reforms that address the culture he oversaw for a generation. What a tone deaf clown.

that's quite incredible isn't it?
Even the pussies at AFL house gave them a whack. jesus.

@mariner4life its mad, you're leaving anyway, fall on your sword, try and grasp some sort of dignity and stop dragging the club you claim to love down with you

A wonderfully successful AFL administrator. The mere fact that you wee flowers know so much about the great man is testimony to him keeping footy in the news and noticed better than anybody else. AFL owes a lot of publicity and exposure to good ol Ed from..., (what's that poor suburb he always boasts about growingup in?)Broadmeadows?
Did what every club president should do. Made big bank, expanded the club internationally, (any of your own dog shit clubs known in America? Endorsed by Pat McCafee?), grew membership, rigged the draw every year and was self effacing and admirably modest throughout.
No one can name any other club president currently in office. He'd bolster your club and bring the money in for surešI'd have a beer with Eddie if invited and so would you namsy wekas all caught up in your "I don't like him so he's bad" pout, and if you didn't take up the opportunity to talk sport with someone in the know then you might as well weld your toilet seat down . Puffs.
Nah, Eddie is like Warnie or perhaps Kearns or Fitzy. Basically fucksticks untill they're being fucksticks for your team. Eddie was a net positive for the Collingwood football club.
And get fucked Mariner you did not know I'd be a pies fluffybunny

Sam Newman defending him, another flog who Iād be happy never to hear from again

Thereās no doubt Eddie has had a net positive effect on Collingwood and in turn the AFL. Thereās genuine passion for the team and to take what was an absolute basket case of a club (off-field) and turn it around is a remarkable feat.
The thing that often comes up in these situations is that there is a baying for blood and apologies arenāt enough. Resignation or else. What gets me is that under Eddieās tenure the amount of community outreach has been pretty phenomenal. So in todayās world that has no bearing in the eyes of those wanting his resignation. I know itās not some ledger that you balance up āgoodā versus ābadā because there are some mistakes/actions that have a point of no return. My view on this one is that Eddieās success and publicity is the reason he was compelled to resign. He handled the release of the report poorly, but I didnāt hear him make excuses for racist behaviour or justify it.
I hate Collingwood and havenāt been a fan of McGuireās. Given my team only has one flag and that is against Collingwood, it weirdly makes me hate them more š.

Brendon Gale managed to do that for Richmond and he's not a flog like Eddie.

Gale has had his moments though and said some dumb stuff over the years. And despite being at a big club that is in the news etc, heās not Eddie and people arenāt looking to throw him to the gallows.
