@Hooroo And it also doesn't matter. If the game plan is to kick and tackle, and they win the game who cares how many passes got them there.

I agree but it is still an incredible stat for me. That must be some sort of record in the modern age?

Gregan had a similarly ridiculous stat in the lions series over the three tests . I can’t remember the exact figures off hand though .

That's not the stat that interests me though, it is the lack of passes by SA in 80 mins that I struggle to get my head around

With you now. It does seem bizarre.

Faf de Klerk was catching a domestic flight in Japan and when he sat down in the aisle seat he noticed the guy in the window seat gave him a quick sideward glance then carried on reading his book. Convinced he had not been recognised he opened his passport and left it in full view of the guy at the window.

Still nothing, so he then placed his no 9 rugby Jersey on the tray, still no hint of recognition. Despite having his pen ready to sign.

Finally he couldn't contain himself anymore so he tapped the guy in the window seat on the shoulder and said "Excuse me, do you know who I am?" The bloke in the window seat says "Yes you are Faf de Klerk, Springbok scrum half".

Faf got this big grin and said "Yes that's me". The bloke in the window seat says "Do you know who I am?" Faf replies "No, I have never seen you before, who are you?" The bloke at the window says "Let me introduce myself, I am Handre Pollard, your fly half."

    A bloody interesting stat,

South Africa have never scored a try in a WC final , despite winning 2 .

Not true, 14/15 replay angles showed Cueto scored in 2007 🎣

    Hahaha.
Equally, Ed Morrison admitted years later that Ruben Kruger actually did score in 1995 πŸ˜‰

Although, my hours of intensive research on the issue have failed to unearth a single official recording of either tries.

Going to check social media though. Pretty sure that source of truth will validate that they actually occurred.
Right next to definitive proof of the existence of Bigfoot.

    True!
If you like spotting patterns / trends in numbers, then I predict The Boks beat England by a score of exactly 15-3 on Saturday πŸ˜‰

It was right in front of me and I saw him step on line. No TMO necessary.

Pretty sure I've got a fair idea what the Boks are going to bring - lots of box kicking, attempting to force the mistake - keep it very tight and try to outmuscle and smother the poms.

Less sure what the poms will do - but also probably plenty of kicking but probably a bit more adventure when they've got a territory advantage.

For the Jaapies, I think much depends on them forcing an early mistake and getting a lead. If they can rattle the poms they can potentially squeeze the life out of them.

However, if it's the Jaapies who make the early mistakes and they let the poms get a lead, then they'll be forced to throw caution to the winds. They can actually play expansively, but I don't think they can do it as efficiently as England.

So a foot in each camp that it's not a forgone conclusion - but, I've got the Jaapies winning a nailbiter OR, most likely, England winning pretty comfortably.

Balls on the line England 30-9.

My prediction: Boks to win (after extra time) 22-19.

I don't think England will be able to match their performance from the last two weeks and South Africa have more in reserve. Going to be very close and I think SA's better bench and calmer heads will see them home.
