@KiwiPie You're obviously right but it wouldn't be the first time rugby and cricket haven't been played on the sane ground (and within the space of a short timespan as well) as Donsteppa pointed out.

@KiwiPie Yep, I will make my usual pilgrimage across.

You would think they could somehow rig up temporary seating at The Bay Oval cricket ground at the Mount...The lighting's there, parking is less of a problem and it would bring in some revenue to the ground when it is not very busy. I'm sure there is very good reasons why that doesn't happen.

Because it is a cricket pitch and not big enough for a rugby field to fit in it? And the season is starting and they have a test match there next month? I can think of many reasons!

Somehow in 2001 they managed to fit a rugby field into Seddon Park when Waikato Stadium was being redone - but agreed on it being way too close to the Biggest Test Match Of The Year 🙂

Presume you'll be there on Day 1 Mr Steppa? Has to be a Murphy's Law chance that some huge storm will be passing through that day .....

Annual leave has been booked, and a four day pass has been acquired 🙂

Where the time slots for the SFs allocated to particular games? The original draw just says SF1, SF2, etc so they could have swapped the Hawkes vs Otago game around.

Not seen it in print but apparently the top finisher's game is on Friday night for Division 2.

Just seen it is free entry for Friday night .... that has to increase the attendance a little!

Not normally something that the BoPs home match day manager has had to worry about in the past!

It wasn't last year. Waikato played Northland at 2:35 pm on the Saturday. I know because I wasn't able to go being on a plane flying back from Christchurch at that time.

The Friday night game was Ta$man vs Canterbury. Sky will have some say as they need to move OBUs and crew around.

@Bovidae I know BOP looked at that "latter in the day" time slot but I assume there just wasn't enough light. The decision in the end came down to floodlights which Tauranga Domain simply doesn't have.

Free entry is a great idea. I hope they fill the place up.

Might be worth the trip from the Tron seeing as it's free.

@Hooroo location was decided by timing, if evening then it had to be in Rotorua due to no lights in Tauranga. If during the day would have been in Tauranga

Mitre 10 Cup 2019 Semi Final Predictions

There are only 8 teams left as we enter the Semi Finals stage of the Mitre 10 Cup 2019! Will all the games go with the seeding and home advantage or could we see an upset somewhere along the line? …

@DrivingMaul Are you saying BOP didn't have a choice as top qualifier, or did Ta$man have the first option of when they wanted to play? This would have meant the rest of the games had to be under lights.

Does the fat dude with the big hair still go to the games?? He used to be their quasi-mascot? Forgotten his name

This is definitely worth a listen for some shield memories.

Can't remember - were you there for the semi-final? I know we had 2 trips to Christchurch in less than a year. We were whipped in the semi-final by the Crusaders (effectively)

I've not spotted him at one yet this season but I did bump into a few weeks ago and he was apparently still having his usual differences with the Bay Union and did intend to turn up. He actually was the official mascot in the early golden days (2003-2005) until his spontaneity was too much for them. He did once kidnap the Harbour Master and tie him to a bench. And then there was some trouble with Hawke's that made the news ....
