This game will be in Rotorua on Friday night at 7.35pm. If the Bay wins the semi, it will be a final on Friday 25 October at 7.35pm again in Rotorua.
How do you feel about that? (In terms of location)

Of course I would rather it was in Tauranga but we have no lights so Rotorua it is. We needed to finish 2nd to get an afternoon game. No point putting lights in at the Domain when what is actually needed is a new stadium.
Final has to be Friday night so was always going to be in Rotorua.

@KiwiPie Agreed. A packed out Tauranga Domain on a sunny afternoon is way better than a smallish crowd on a cold night in Rotorua. I really hope people turn up for this one.
I'm planning to get there but it has to be straight from work ....

@KiwiPie Yep, I will make my usual pilgrimage across.
You would think they could somehow rig up temporary seating at The Bay Oval cricket ground at the Mount...The lighting's there, parking is less of a problem and it would bring in some revenue to the ground when it is not very busy. I'm sure there is very good reasons why that doesn't happen.

Because it is a cricket pitch and not big enough for a rugby field to fit in it? And the season is starting and they have a test match there next month? I can think of many reasons!

Somehow in 2001 they managed to fit a rugby field into Seddon Park when Waikato Stadium was being redone - but agreed on it being way too close to the Biggest Test Match Of The Year

Presume you'll be there on Day 1 Mr Steppa? Has to be a Murphy's Law chance that some huge storm will be passing through that day .....

Annual leave has been booked, and a four day pass has been acquired

Where the time slots for the SFs allocated to particular games? The original draw just says SF1, SF2, etc so they could have swapped the Hawkes vs Otago game around.
Not seen it in print but apparently the top finisher's game is on Friday night for Division 2.
Just seen it is free entry for Friday night .... that has to increase the attendance a little!

Not normally something that the BoPs home match day manager has had to worry about in the past!

It wasn't last year. Waikato played Northland at 2:35 pm on the Saturday. I know because I wasn't able to go being on a plane flying back from Christchurch at that time.
The Friday night game was Ta$man vs Canterbury. Sky will have some say as they need to move OBUs and crew around.
-
@Bovidae I know BOP looked at that "latter in the day" time slot but I assume there just wasn't enough light. The decision in the end came down to floodlights which Tauranga Domain simply doesn't have.
Free entry is a great idea. I hope they fill the place up.
-
Really looking forward to being at this game
just published my predictions for the semifinals
-
@DrivingMaul Are you saying BOP didn't have a choice as top qualifier, or did Ta$man have the first option of when they wanted to play? This would have meant the rest of the games had to be under lights.
