Super Rugby 2020

The other complication is stadia. To find somewhere suitable and setup for live TV that doesn't require bums on seats to make it viable to hire.
It is pretty hard to see a way out of this season for comps already underway like Super.
Let the Blues fans have some kind of moral victory to bitch about for years and give everyone a break until stuff settles.
If Super Rugby is cancelled though, does that mean we could stack the Sevens team for the Olympics (if that goes ahead)?
I know it's a specialist game these days, but plenty of time to train up. BB, DMac, Reiko.... -

@Gunner yea I mentioned above re upcoming winter sports.
When do seniors start, kids sports is mid to late April I think.
Just had an email from Northland Soccer (I'm the club Pres) with an announcement coming in the next 48 hours...

Who knows what’ll happen.
@Machpants i will keep my eyes out for news on the football, I imagine if one code jumps, all the others will soon play follow the leader....
Interesting times.

My Sunday football league team were meant to play our first friendly game this coming weekend but that has been postponed a week. Not because of covid-19 but due to the condition of the fields. No problems with limiting crowd numbers though.

@Tim It sucks for the Jaguares and the Sunwolves (if they return to Japan), but I really hope they (SANZAAR/NZR/ARU/SARU etc) come up with an alternative, like NZ, SA and Aussie derbies. Probably no finals or an overall winner at the end, but hopefully entertaining games. It will be without crowds, but at least there will be plenty of people watching the games on tv, which will also be good for the broadcasters and sponsors.
The Súper Liga Americana de Rugby has also been suspended, so the Jaguares and Ceibos can maybe play each other. Only one opponent, but it's better than nothing.
In Japan, all sports seem to have been cancelled, so if the Sunwolves return to Japan, it's all over. If they stay in Australia, maybe they can continue playing against the Aussie teams. Considering most players are foreigners, they may prefer going home though. It wouldn't surprise me at all, if some of the NZ Sunwolves players were on the same plane to NZ as the Crusaders, to beat the deadline on Sunday.
Of course, all of that will be over as soon as players get positive test results or show symptoms.

@Tim Hoping it won't last that long, then.
I can't see how it won't. Isolation requires two weeks and then you'd need to see a decline in new cases to the point health authorities were confident everyone running around hugging each other again wouldn't simply let it go again. Especially as we get deeper into the colder months.
I think I'll cancel my Kayo subscription for the foreseeable future.

@antipodean Yeah, you're probably right.

It is also dependent on other nations getting their shit together and containing the disease. Can't see that happening in 16 days
