I'm battling with the thought that Super Rugby starts again this weekend. The kids only went back to school today!

It's forecast to be 41 degrees here on Friday and Saturday. Ludicrous weather to play a winter sport.

I may watch the Chiefs game on Friday night but I doubt it. I don't have enough time for Cricket and rugby watching and with the test series around the corner, I'm firmly in the watch cricket camp.

And the elite players will still be playing in November. Competition rugby for 10 months of the year.

Taipans are playing Friday, and are in the playoff hunt. Rugby will become relevant when the Taipans are done.

Just in case anyone needs a reminder of the return to play and rest protocols for All Blacks (apparently, it applies to 31 identified players):
NZR head of high performance Mike Anthony confirmed to Stuff this week that the same rest directives would apply to All Blacks during this Super Rugby regular season. - Two games off (on top of the teams' two byes) - No more than six games played in succession (byes and rest weeks reset the count) - A 180-minute cap on game time over the first three rounds Along with that 180-minute restriction, coaches are also instructed to try and build the load - for instance, 40 minutes, then 60, then 80 - which wasn't perfectly adhered to last season.
As part of their collective agreement, All Blacks get 12 weeks off at the end of the season, and while Anthony notes NZR have formally been managing players' workloads since 2010, it is now also part of the collective to make it more black and white. So even had All Blacks coach Ian Foster, who has taken over from Sir Steve Hansen, wanted to change things up in that department, he was powerless. The collective allows for up to 33 players to be load managed, though the All Blacks coaches have identified just 31 - all those who attended the World Cup last year, plus some others who have some history with the national side. Those who didn't feature at the World Cup have been allowed to feature in pre-season play. Super coaches had been required to submit plans for each of their All Blacks to Anthony prior to Christmas, with particular thought given to the team's schedule, taking into account opponents and travel.

That's good sense stuff that helps keep athletes here instead of chasing the yen or euro

Look, I've tried, but I can't get anyone over here to realise that early morning is actually the afternoon.

There's going to be a big outcry about the new rules around tackling and there's been very little coverage of it. You can already see the train crash coming from a publicity point of view
