The day-time Test in Hamilton will be the last hit-out for both sides before they depart for the World Cup in Japan and All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has given a strong indication that he will select a near front-line team for the match. "We'd like probably most of the frontliners to get some form of game-time in the Tonga game, otherwise it's too big a break before we play South Africa," Hansen said.
Before the September 7 clash at FMG Stadium in Hamilton, the All Blacks will announce their 31-man Rugby World Cup squad at 12pm on Wednesday 28 August. The announcement will be broadcast live on Spark Sport and the All Blacks facebook page and is sure to contain one or two surprises given the fierce competition for places in the squad.
**The clash in Hamilton will be the first day-time Test for the All Blacks since they played Canada in the 2011 Rugby World Cup in Wellington**.

Wasn’t the game against Samoa in 2015 during the day? Maybe they mean in NZ.
Edit: Dammit, the last paragraph was meant to be bold but I don’t know how the work the formatting.
Definitely the first daytime ABs test match in NZ for a very long time.
On the formatting the double asterisk cannot be followed by another symbol such as “. Has to be text.
I wasn’t aware it was a day game , got so used to a 5.30 kick off aus time just assumed it would be the same and have organised something through the day.
Oh well , might be watching it on the phone .

On business in Vietnam** (Hanoi) for a week or so, and will be here for the Tonga game. Any ferners around? Any recommendations of places to watch the rugby?
I can sign up for rugbypass, but AB games are always more fun with a crowd.
** Without derailing the thread, please PM me with any ideas of places to eat etc. or sights I absolutely shouldn't miss. I have some time to get out and about.

Try Jaspas in the Hanoi Tower. I’ve watched some sport there on a big screen.
In terms of sites, you have to go to the old quarter.

More importantly do you know when the team will be named?

@ACT-Crusader Surely a question for @SouthernMann

@sparky So that seems to indicate they don't want to risk Mo'unga.
Good plan. Ioane can get some reps, just in case

Yes indeed. Or ist it the coaches know something we don't about the health of the squad?
Certianly gonna be interesting who they select for this clash,
I wouldn't want either Ritchie or Beaudy in the firing line. -

Moouage always missing this game. Out for minimum 3 weeks.
Only question was whether Josh from outside the squad or some random unco from inside the squad.
"Hansen said there would be "heaps" of stuff they would be holding back this weekend, but plenty they need to also tick off, the main one being getting some minutes under the belt of some players.
Centre Jack Goodhue may not yet return this weekend, still being troubled by the hamstring injury he picked up against the Wallabies in Perth.
Hansen said he was still to see the medical report on first-five Richie Mo'unga, who took a shoulder knock against the Wallabies at Eden Park, and that non World Cup squad member Josh Ioane was therefore with the squad this week and a chance of a test debut."
